Callie Torres in 6.05 Invasion (Grey's Anatomy)
"dr. yang, is it?" to be honest, the fact that a second year resident came up in an interview for a chief of cardiology position...it was new. very new, but webber had said something about her being especially excited to finally have a chief of cardio to work with so that must have been a good thing. hopefully, that was a good thing. "someone told me you're kind of good with hearts. so, are you on my service today or not? i would like to go fix a heart or two and if the resident who likes hearts would like to join me, that would be great." ( @lostatseattle )
for @sgmwesters - april kepner bestie!
"i just got zola her first fishing pole," a fishing pole. a fishing pole for a kid who could barely sit up on her own, but it was her first fishing pole. next thing derek knew, she would be old enough to actually fish. "it's pink." april kepner wasn't his usual person to disclose this type of information to, but she was the one in the room.

tommy + catalina â  @mediiicalsâ
it wasnât the unanswered phone calls or the prolonged silence. it was the bad feeling. he couldnât explain it to anyone, theyâd probably think he was being ridiculous. except diego, but they werenât exactly on the best of terms. it wasnât something spiritual. not exactly. but it didnât matter. not until the bad feeling turned out to be correct. it was difficult not to jump to conclusions. contrmplating the worst case scenario lead to a healthy dose of self-pity. he was exceptional that, after all.
he barely listened to any of the information given to him when he was the hospital. at least making friends there proved beneficial when a particularly stern nurse wouldnât give him any information about catalinaâs condition. he sat in the waiting room for what felt like hours - alone. the call had woken him up - and then everyone involved got busy. he pressed his palms into his thighs and stared at the floor. only when he heard his name, did he stand up, at attention. she had a room. she was alive. that was enough for now.
he stayed in her room pretty much indefinitely. back ache from the chair was the least of his worries. he couldnât stop thinking about every single missed opportunity heâd had with catalina â and whether or not heâd get the chance to make up for them.
it had been - well, a lot. between the car hitting them, consoling dr. kepner, helping make sure their patient would survive before the next ambulance and making sure the other car was okay? it wasnât what she had expected from her night shift, but it had happened. the last thing she could remember was collapsing onto her side and an emt, one she didnât recognize, hovering over her. next thing she knew, she was waking up to the very familiar bright lights of a hospital room. a hospital room inside the hospital that she spent most of her time in.Â
when she did finally wake up, his cologne was the first thing she had recognized. her head turned to the side to see him half awake, curled up on one of the chairs that the hospital provided for long term visitors. he looked tired, worried, but the football game playing on her tv was distracting him enough. that was good, really good. catalina knew what tommy had gone through with bev, she didnât want or need him to worry about her the same. she tried to shift herself against her hospital bed, hoping to sit up a little bit more. that was when the uncomfortableness hit, hand grabbing at her stomach with a delicate groan. right, she was in an accident. a bad way, at that. âwater,â she whispered before turning back to look at him, âcan you ask them for water?âÂ

being sent out to the sinkhole wasnât something sheâd expected for the day, but it was all part of the job. loading up an ambo with supplies, giving people the help they needed at the site to make sure as many people survived as possible was what she lived for. the fact that the ambulance had now come to a stop en route back to seattle grace though, had a small amount of worry sitting in her chest. their young patient was stable for the time being, but that didnât mean they could just sit in the middle of the road forever. âwe can manage for a little while, but we need to get back to the hospital, or he might run the risk of losing his leg.â she explained, hands working at the iv sheâd hooked up for the young patient. âdo we know how long? i donât like that weâre just stuck here.â
âlets not..?â hand zipped her own mouth shut, finger then pointing down to the young boy in front of them. he may have been asleep, but things could get through. at this point, dr. devi did not want the kid to know that he could lose his leg. at least, not until they spoke and he could been seen by dr. sharma. corners turned to a smile, head shaking in hopes of breaking her own anxiety dripping at her chest. it was hard, to keep a cool and level head. catalina was comfortable having her hand inside of an open wound, but waiting out in the middle of the street? with a kids life on the line? not her idea of fun. âneither do i, kepner. but knowing seattle grace, theyâve already probably sent an ambulance for us.â she could have called tommy, but catalina knew that he was off of shift tonight. âit definitely shouldnât be long, i promise. weâll be fine and so will he, alright? weâve already paged ortho to be ready for us for when we get back. theyâre prepping or2.âÂ
for @lostatseattleâ !Â
it had been a very very long day. she was hour 23 or 24, there was her fourth coffee in her hand and the remnants of her donut from a couple of hours ago laying against the collar of her scrubs. there was a rumor that there was a new head of the residency program, but delta didnât even have time to consider who it was. surprisingly, she hadnât even heard whispers between the other residents and interns on what she was like. all she had heard of was that she was tall and a redhead, but that could mean so many different things. the tall redheads that she knew were great, but - âcolette?â it made her stop in her tracks. her second older sister, the woman she had gone to with her problems when her actual sister wasnât available. when her sister had died, colette became the only sister she knew. it was - well, it had been a while since they had seen each other but god. it was great seeing her. âwhat are you doing here? are you -?â tall and redhead, oh my god! âholy hell, are you my new boss?â probably not the most professional way to say it, but this was basically a dream come true.Â
for @sgmwestersâ & dr kepner !Â
âare we..?â the ambulance was slowing down. they were in the middle of basically the high way, but they were slowing down. when she peered out of the back window, she couldnât see any traffic. there were two knocks onto the open between them and the person who was driving and when it opened, they told both april and catalina that something was wrong with the ambulance. sheâd called the hospital, so hopefully someone would be there as soon as possible to transport them all soon. âat least we still have power,â dont freak out too much. knowing april, things could become a freak out pretty quickly. if catalina kept a cool head, so would the resident. âyouâre okay, right? someone should probably already be on their way. lets just keep up with his vitals, keep pumping him with the morphine for his leg and heâll be okay.âÂ
hey charley @lostatseattle ily merry xmas xoxoÂ
for @sgmwestersâ & aubrey !Â
seattle hadnât always been the plan. eight years ago, he wouldâve lived anywhere in the world if the woman that he had loved wouldâve asked him to. then things took a turn, another woman convinced him that he had a family to take care of and everything went to shit. of course, things didnât always worked out in his favor. the family that he thought he had wasnât actually his, the woman he wanted to marry now hated him, but his sister had moved into town. he moved hospitals, got his own place to live and spent the next couple of years focusing on his job. connor had been stuck in a rut of doing the same thing over and over again, until a monday afternoon when his past hit him square in the face.Â
he was standing in an elevator, something he did every day. he was on the way to grab a coffee when the doors opened on a different floor. again, something that happened every day. this time, his ex-fiance was standing on the other side. eyes dipped to the necklace that she was wearing, turning back to meet hers before taking two steps backwards to give her room to walk into the elevator.Â

for @lostatseattleâ & eleanor !Â
âdo you still have the chart from our john doe last week?â weirdly enough, it wasnât too rare to have someone come into the emergency room without any sort of identification on them. you usually called the police (depending on the situation) or figured it out through medical records, but before then the hospital would claim the patient as a john doe until they woke up and were coherent enough to explain who they were. connor was professional enough to work with eleanor, but that didnât mean it was one of his favorite things to do. yeah, him and his sister argued over the smallest of things. her happiness and well being wasnât one of them.Â
lostatseattleâ:
âyeah, they do that good uh- tea thing. with the leaves,â tommy said vaguely. he visited that bakery often - more often than he would admit. the couple reminded his of his ex-in-laws. anything that might connect him to home, he appreciated. when he looked at them, he saw something he wanted. not owning a bakery - heâd rather own his own garage - but the kind of relationship they had. he moved to get out of bed, slower than he would have normally. he closed his eyes and took a deep breath like he was about to go through an extreme ordeal. âalright. iâm ready.â
without a thought, catalina kissed tommy before even considering what she was doing. her mom used to always laugh about how cat was meant for the medical field, seeing as she rarely ever got sick. now that she was older, she spent her life around sick people without getting any of the germs she came in contact with. knock on wood that this would be the same. âtheyâll be excited to see you,â the owners of the bakery down the street loved tommy. even she would go on her own, theyâd ask about where he was. if he was at the fire house, theyâd even sometimes give her extra pastries to drop off for him as a present. they had been together for as long as catalina could even imagine and every time she saw them, they seemed even more in love than the day before. it was a dream, having that kind of life.Â
Is that my favourite girl?
for @sgmwestersâ & lachlan !Â
âso sorry,â there were two knocks on his office door before dr martinez finally made her way in, âi know your assistant told me you had a question for me about 45 minutes ago but there was a very weird case that came in. some guy came in with a - â there was a pause, hand shaking away the story realizing that mr convington probably did not care about a guy with a tree stuck in his leg. why was she apologizing? andrea had no idea, but thatâs what came with randomly being called to a board members office. âdid you still have a question?â

AU STARTER. ⪠alex karev  @mediiicalsââ
sometimes the only way to get something done was to take matters into your own hands, and for jo, everything in her experience had only confirmed that. when it came down to it, the only one she truly had to rely on was herself. thatâs why slipping into a hospital supply closet had seemed like her only option, once steph had become unreachable due to some surgery. it was justified, she thought. really, it was the hospital and an oppressive healthcare system that forced her to need to do this in the first place. she was just doing what others were too cowardly to. it still felt odd, rummaging through the supply closet in her street clothes, having done the same thing in scrubs not too long ago. jo felt her stomach drop as light flooded into the dim closet as someone pushed through the door from the hallway. she turned, knowing it was only a matter of moments before who ever it was saw her. she shifted her cross-boy bag to sit behind her, folding her hand filled with gauze behind her back as she looked up. âoh. itâs you.â she grimaced. âi was just making a phone call.â at least she said it confidently.Â
âare you breaking the law?â it was a stupid question because the answer was obvious. she was. she had stopped working at the hospital a while ago, so seeing her rummaging through a supply closet like a raccoon seeing food for the first time was a bit more than surprising. alex wouldnât tell anyone, obviously. that didnât mean anything about him being nosey and getting answers to any of the questions that he wanted to ask. âlooks like the princess lost her throne,â he let out a laugh, searching through the closet for his own necessities. when jo left the hospital, he had asked around for a couple days to see if he understand what happened. it wasnât some ulterior motive, but he has always admired her skills as a surgeon. she was a younger resident, but that didnât mean alex couldnât see skill when he saw it. âbaileyâs outside,â he admitted, âyou may want that phone call to last a little bit longer than you need it to.âÂ

for @lostatseattleâ & izzie - sheâs alive !Â
it had been one hell of a day. all he wanted to do was go get his girl, get a six pack of beer and spend the night at home. he didnt need to talk to anyone, say any sort of medical term or make sort of decision involving someone else. âyou ready to go home?â he found her in one of the many attending lounges around the hospital, an immediate smile forming on his face when he did.Â
seattlitesâ:
âwell, itâs not my fault you love giving me a heart attack. making some type of noise would be appreciated instead of standing there like michael myers.â brooke didnât know beverly that much, truth be told. she didnât have any desire to be her friend, even if they didnât have a husband in common they probably would have. but they were in each otherâs lives, for better or worse. she would never ask tommy to change firehouses when it was his family. the thought of moving across the country had been thrown at the table before iris was born but it didnât go nowhere. âmaybe we could offer you a bell.â she muttered, definitely not low enough for the other not to hear her. âthose werenât tommyâs?â her eyes got bigger in an instant. âyeah, they arenât there anymoreâŚâ she had stolen those already. âhow much do you want to keep your mouth shut? 10 bucks? 20? 50?â
âten bucks and a coffee next time you come to the firehouse,â there was a quick yet nonchalant shrug, âtake it or leave it.â weirdly, beverly could see her and brooke actually being friends if tommy had never been in the picture. maybe, just maybe, they could at some point find a way to be friends with tommy being in both of their lives. it had been a long time since she had called herself a donovan. deep down, she was just happy that tommy had found someone that could give him what he wanted. âwould you be okay if we stopped doing this?â kind of a weird question, bev knew that. it was still something she wanted to ask. âiâm kind of over this being weird with you when it doesnât have to be.âÂ
