Teddy scrunched up her nose slightly, obviously intending to refuse the hot beverage with some level of snark. Until she remembered that it wasn’t just some cup of tea, it was an act of kindness. An olive branch. And she wasn’t going to be petty. Well not petty enough that Lachlan would have anything to complain about. “Thank you.” It was stilted, but it was more than she’d ever given before, as she took the cup from his hands.

a kiss on the cheek goodnight at her front door. holding hands all through a dinner date that he had been terrified to ask her on. declan thought it would end there and he’d go back home like it was the very first date of his entire life. he’d mull it over in his head, overthink every glance and every touch. he had just let go of her hand as she slipped through her front door. declan turned to go - but her words stopped him and her turned back around to face him. a soft laugh escaped and he moved forward, placing his hand on her cheek. he wasn’t scared any more. he was brave. “i thought you’d never ask.” and he kissed her at last. 

“okay, then don’t talk.” cristina sat herself down next to her anyway, fully uninvited. in april’s absence, she had found something of a fondness for her. reluctant as it was, she cared - and acknowledged the fact that she had hit a sore spot when picking fun at everything about her life in ohio and her reason for leaving. alas, the real reason for bothering april wasn’t to give her an apology. but to steal a piece of ‘welcome back’ cake. silence sat between them for a few moments, cristina tapping her hands against the couch. “so, are you going to eat all that or...?”

“I. I really don’t know what you want me to stay to that.” Internally Lilith was panicking. She could deal with patients, sometimes, and if she was really pressed she could talk about feelings with her best friend back in London but this wasn’t her ball park at all. “Is Hayes not out of hospital yet? Don’t you normally talk to her about this kind of thing?”

That wasn’t what Pippa had been expecting to hear and she froze for a moment before sitting down next to him. “Well that’s to be expected is it not? You’ve certainly got a lot on your plate. I’m here to help you know.”

“I did! I did ask for help! That’s why I’m seeing the fucking psychiatrist and why I’m not going into the OR! But how the fact am I meant to come to you when you’ve got so much other things going on? And I’m happy for you and Andrea I really am but it is hard. It’s too hard right now.”
