the chiro field has been panicking about the cervical dissection and stroke thing for a decade (probably because several of the main cardiology/spinal specialty/neurology/? science-based medical associations put out an official joint statement along the lines of "we have been noticing a lot of patients showing up with stroke and cervical dissection following chiropractic adjustment so we thought everyone should know" about ten years ago, which is the strongest thing youre allowed to say against someone professionally in this context and should be read/interpreted as "do not fucking go to a chiropractor we are begging you") but theyre really really pumping out the volume of "nuh uh" papers recently. i read one last night that huffily asserted the most likely explanation for the correlation between cervical dissection and chiropractic manipulation was that the victims had cervical dissection already before they saw the chiropractor. this wasnt elaborated upon, nor was it addressed that one would THINK, based on their claims about their awareness of the human spine, a chiropractor would be able to spot a walking cervical dissection case in the waiting room and call 911.
