This blog exists to monitor and archive mcyt and mcytblr containment breaches, both current and historical (aka ones that happened before this blog was made), largely for the sake of entertainment. If there are any containment breaches you liked/found funny/remembered that aren’t on here, feel free to tag this blog or send in an ask.

Categorization System

Containment Breaches will be categorized by type, location, and severity. Types are as follows: Type 1 (mcyt cc interacts with fandom, ex: tumblr fandom is mentioned on stream), Type 2 (mcyt topic mentioned by major news outlet), Type 3 (political figure or celebrity mentions mcyt), Type 4 (internal breaches, as in, within Tumblr), and Type 5 (other).

Locations are mcyt (mcyt being brought up in an incongruous situation), fandom (mcyt fandom being brought up in an incongruous situation), and mcytblr (a part of mcyt fandom specific to tumblr being brought up in an incongruous situatuation).

Additionally, posts will be tagged with involved/mentioned ccs and involved/mentioned tumblr communities.

Severity will be recorded using an adapted version of the Waffle House Index, mostly because I find it funny. Additionally, updates may refer to a containment breach “watch,” “advisory,” or “warning.” These mean essentially the same things as they do in actual disaster reporting.

Posts will fall into four main categories: report, archive, library, or suggestion. Suggestions will be what asks, suggestions, etc. will be tagged. Archive is for reblogs. Report will be for original posts on current containment breaches. Library will be for posts summarizing and/or listing historical or ongoing containment breaches.
