(the non-biological, angsty kind I like, anyway)
*Snape and Harry are forced to live together because of Plot Reasons™*
Snape: OK, look. I hate you, you hate me. This is the way life is supposed to be. You are frightened of me. Normally I encourage this to keep all you little monsters in line, but at the moment it is counterproductive, so I am making an attempt to be less frightening, and you had BETTER APPRECIATE IT!
Harry: Just like home, then. I hate my life.
Snape: Here is your bedroom, be on time for all three meals every day, take your medicine, if you go poking around in my stuff/life I will give you nasty chores to do.
Harry: What about beating me and starving me and locking me in a cupboard and making me do all the work around the house?
Snape: What is wrong with you, Potter?
Harry: What is wrong with you? You hate me. That’s how people who hate me act. I’m used to it. Why are you messing around pretending otherwise?
Snape: *gets drunk/begs Dumbledore to take Harry away/goes and curses the Dursleys/finds Harry a therapist/any combination of the above*
Snape: OK, let’s try this again. I can’t hate you anymore.
Harry: I have a… father figure? Idk, but I’m safer with him than anywhere else.
Snape: I … am not saying what Harry is to me, but I will destroy anyone who messes with him.
(I will read every single version of this I can find, multiple times each. :D Favorite. Fic. Ever!)
