Garroth hugs Aphmau when he learns that O'Khasis has left, and that he'll be free for a while longer. Laurance hugs Aphmau even after she openly rejects him once more, because he's just happy to have her as a friend.

Season 2 starts with Aph having to cope with the loss of everything she knew all at once and that's a hurt Aaron knows all too well. He's out of practice with People but he does make an effort in assuring Aphmau that she will be alright eventually, she just needs to look ahead and keep going for now.

And he keeps showing up to help her because he sees a starry-eyed idealist slowly crushed under the weight of her responsibility and guilt and he sees himself there. He doesn't want her to end up like him - driven by revenge and rage and forsaking company to chase it.
