Iâve been thinking something up for Tuâla for a while and Iâm just gonna share thoughts here.
Menphia came from Tuâla and was the difinitive first meifâwa. Her father was a general who fought in the name of TuâlaâŚfrom his chambers. As you can imagine, someone supposedly leading the armies that die in battle resting comfortably in nobility while their people dieâŚyou could say, âupsetâ some few. So people protested his position, some even said if they could theyâd execute him for lazinessâŚor so he heard.
He went out of his way to beg a witch to change himself into another so it wouldnât be his head they killed. So she did..but she decided for the sake of genie rules..to turn him into a cat like the scaredy cat he was.
No one knew of what happened to him except for his wife and there was the problem of heirs that hadnât yet been fixedâŚso birds and the bees later 5 cat children are born with Menphia as the oldest. Menphia would vow to not follow in her fatherâs footsteps and be the warrior her armies depend on. She also denounced magicks of any kind, vowing to make her name in the dirt and blood of the ânatural wayâ.
Ok ânother thing, so Meifâwas as a race came from Menphiaâs 4 younger siblings as she didnât have any kids making her reincarnations usually be through their descendants. All of the descendants of the four were Meifâwa as well because the Meifâwa gene is EXTREMLY recessive. For Meifâwa itâs common to have anime hair thanks to the generalâs wife having the also extremly recessive non-natural colored hair gene.
By the medieval times where Tuâla had started trying to expand to all neighbouring regions like Ruâan, the Meifâwa had become common folk, usually exploited folk. About 55% of Tuâlaâs population were Meifâwa. About all of them had to toil away to provide for their family. It had been spun by that time that Menphia had no relation to the Meifâwas as to create this image of someone who held no bounds to one group and fought with rage against about anyone. In reality Menphia was very stuck to the Meifâwas to the point that in one reincarnation she fought to sever connections between Ruâan and Tuâla because the Meifâwa who went there were being horribly discriminated against. In many reincarnations actually, sheâs fought against her fellow warriors for Tuâlaâs sake instead of what should be the whole world. She had a bias for her Meifâwa brothers and sisters and was unafraid to show it, which made it uncomfortable for the nobles. Itâs easier to pray to a divine human than a divine of the very race theyâre exploiting. Especially when the divine would raise hell against people like you.
Eventually in a would be season 3, the King who had been allowing this exploitation would reenact the fall of King Louie eventually turning Tuâla into one big republic years later when the fires of fury cooled down. Things were extremely rough, especially since they would be the first recorded nation in the Realm to make a republic, but for the sake of carrying on their nation, they fought through.
By the Mystreet Age most of Tuâlaâs residents are Meifâwa. But Tuâla because of the bad job opportunities there(as the lower class was never quite removed) Nana and her family and many others moved to Ruâan for the better opportunities. Iâll add here that a lot of people all over worship Irene, even in Tuâla which led to Menphiaâs memory only carrying on in statues and books. Worst of all, any traces of her being a Meifâwa were lost.
But at least in the cat boy animes about cat boy gods that you know exist in this universe, sheâs at least a Meifâwa there.
Iâll add here that Tuâla is big on fashion and looking nice. See, Menphia spent a lot of here pre-warrior life making dresses with her mother, the most famous dress being the one that dare have a hole in the back of the dress for a Meifâwaâs tail. How scandalous. Lol. Anyways despite her âMurder is okayâ attitude, she kept the part of her that liked designing clothes into her warrior career. Specifically by becoming a blacksmith on the side. You know if she made a piece of armour back then cause her armour is famous for having a lot of red ribbons and gold strung about for style only and a lot more spikes to impale anyone who gets near.(Some say her designs inspired Shadâs own armour((mostly the spikes bit))).
Anyways a lot of Tuâlaâs fashion by McD is very poofy and heavy, because Tuâla(as how I imagine it) is half woods and half snowy mountains and inactive volcano. The volcano is actually where Menphia was buried along with her siblings(whose graves were dug up to bring them over there). Anyways thatâs led the Tuâlian people to usually have very heavy clothes usually made out of pelts, the most known and sought out after pelts being snow leapord pelts but those were reserved for nobility. Bells would also be worn by both humans and Meifâwas to hear eachother in the snow. In the more woodsy part of Tuâla clothes can be much lighter but people of higher status generally wear robes and fans are currently very in. Long hair done up in pins by the woman is normal. The lower class wears what you can expect, Meifâwa specifically try to wear as little around their paws and face as possible so they can keep all their senses intact. If you want to know more and why go read a text book or something. Meifâwa usually have their hair cut short to keep it out of their face. Slightly fun fact: But for a Meifâwa soldier to work at their best they usually just need a long staff or bow and as stated before, as little armour on as they can have on. Keep it to the upper arms, upper legs, torso and at highest the neck. While it keeps them very open, thanks to no armour on their head obstructing their ears they can clock someone approaching them immediately and almost immediately claws out cut them to pieces. Theyâre also really fast and agile so donât try running, just stand your ground and try to hit their obvious weak points. Tuâla armour like how Menphia made it, is very spikey because of the benefit of making people back off from trying to hit their weak points. Human soldiers like wearing oni masks to scare opposing enemies. They usually just cover the mouth and are made by the soldier out of wood and whatever colors they have. Teenagers going out to war have theirs made by their father in the most expensive colours they can have. âItâs better to die in styleâ is what Menphia said. Ok thats a lot about clothes and armour so Iâll stop with the clothes for now except for saying that orange and white are highly regarded colors(Menphiaâs a calico) and a lot of high fashion has them in there somewhere.
Ok this will be my final point, but letâs talk fighting: A Tuâla soilderâs main and most taught form of fighting is to sneak attack and while theyâre unaware attack someone with everything, going straight for the vitals and being done with it. For a group they want to scare as many as they can(oni masks), get people out of their flow by hitting where it really hurts then trying to go in for the kill.
Not a lot of people use weapons and usually try to go hand to hand. The weapons they do use are like spears to make distance, bows and long wracking sticks. Magic is not at all used in Tuâla. People perceived as witches or wizards are usually executed for it.
Ok thats everything, I might make a part two but yeah. Iâm tired itâs 10 pm.
