The best memories are made when nothing is planned. I went by the Forest Ave location last night after playing some tunes with my buddy @tommybenson322 and decided to have a quick taste and say hello to a new guest. They were Just passing by, saw a sign that says “Wine Tasting” and decided to stop in. The hat that gave joy and life. Several years ago I got an email from a guest. We had just opened up our first Laguna Beach location and our brand was just starting to make a mark. The young lady On the other end of the chain shared the same last name as me and had been to the lounge before. She asked me for the McClain Camo hat that, at the time, we did not have anymore. She wanted it for her Dad who was in failing health. I did not hesitate to reply to her and special order 1 custom hat at no cost. After all… she was a McClain and anything I can do to help bring a smile to someone or be a part of a significant emotional event.., I’m all in. So I had the hat made… mailed it off and thought nothing mute about it. Fast forward to last Saturday night…. We had just wrapped up our Amazing members only pick up party and I stopped by our Laguna Beach lounge…. While chatting with a guest… in walks a lady I’d never met before. She started telling me about a request she made for a hat! I knew instantly what she was talking about. As the conversation went on the tears began to flow… I was moved to discover how having that hat brought her father so much joy. It was as if he was given a second boost of joy in the midst of his final days. She told me that he would go out to a rather “hooty-tooty” place as Mr. McClain and tell people “Mr. McClain himself gave me this hat. “. Hearing her tell the story about the joy a hat gave her Dad brought me so much comfort and joy. Just knowing that a simple gesture added excitement and perhaps days to his life is beyond words. It is such a pleasure to show people love. It’s such a joy to give. To the man who shares the last name as I whom I’ve never met… may God keep you in love for all eternity. Ahhhh. The McClain Cellars Wine Library on Forest Avenue is worth a visit. Last night, to celebrate our anniversary, I broke the first vintage of our amazing Five Hearts. This 2017 blend of Petite Sirah, Merlot, & Sangiovese blew my mind. I mean it was great when we released it earning a Double Gold and 96 points… but a few years later after laying down in the library….. WOW! Words can not express how fantastic this bottle was to enjoy. This is an outstanding wine that will rival the very finest vintages in history. It’s worth every drop. Truly poetry in a bottle. It’s hard to explain the true pleasure I got from the 50% Petite Sirah | 31% Sangiovese | 19% Merlot. I know that there are only a few bottles left at the Forest Ave Library but if you have a special occasion coming up… run… don’t walk for this one. It’s showing it’s heart these days and Is simply fantastic. Just ask @sofiamcclain how amazing it was.
