“Wait, hang on, what are you doing?” Satoru asks, holding an arm out as if to stop him.
Suguru gives him a funny look. “I’m packing? So I can go to a rut house?” He pulls the blanket off their couch and tries to mash it into the bag.
“Why would you do that?” Satoru says. “Come on, you’ve always had your ruts here. It’s never been a problem.”
Suguru looks at him again, this time like he’s an idiot. “I don’t know, maybe because this rut is going to be, like, a million times worse than the bullshit ruts we have on suppressants?"
Satoru grabs the duffle bag out of his hand. “Okay, but like, it’s us. It’s not a big deal. You should just stay here. If it gets really bad, I’ll leave and go crash with Shoko for a couple days or something.”
Suguru relaxes his arm, letting the overflowing bag hang at his side. “Well,” he hesitates.
“Seriously. If it’s gonna be that bad, don’t you want to have it in an environment you know? You can’t honestly tell me you want to go to a rut house.” Satoru’s got him now, he can totally tell. “Plus, if you’re here, I can help you.”
That makes Suguru lift an eyebrow. “Help me? Through a rut?”
Satoru smacks him on the arm. “Not like that, you pervert. I just mean, like, I can help bring you food and water and stuff when you’re, like. Incapacitated.”
The wheels in Suguru’s brain are clearly turning at this offer. After a long moment, he drops the duffle bag on the ground, letting the contents spill out onto the floor.
“Fine,” says Suguru. “If you’re okay listening to me jerk off for like, a week straight, then whatever. I’ll stay.”
When Suguru has a bad reaction to his rut suppressants and has to stop taking them, Satoru jumps at the chance to take care of his roommate during what promises to be the worst rut he’ll ever have. Wait, no, not that kind of ‘take care of’ – they’re both alphas, after all. No, Satoru’s just going to hang around the apartment, being generally helpful, until the rut passes and Suguru gets back to normal.
