all the aizawa art was making me go back into my headcanon archives!! i think it is right for him… i think he needs someone to cradle the hurt he has and to understand it will never go away. i think post war his mental health gets better but he still has nightmares and hard days. he’s suspicious when anyone shows interest and certainly side eyeing anyone who isn’t half as cynical as he is.
ultimately human nature wins and he’d allow himself to have sex with you and swear it ends there but spoiler alert it doesn’t. you’re the only person who was okay with the fact that he can’t use his dick that he’s met. still suspicious until you unexpectedly cancel a date and he breaks in through your window (he’s a hero it’s ok) to see you hyperventilating and crying on your living room floor and then his eyes are fully open and he has the chance to cradle your hurt.
honestly i think the 4 pets is what is the hardest sell in the relationship. he’s not much of an animal person but he can’t help but be endeared by your wobbly cat, your blind cat who curls up on his chest, your three legged dog, and your senior pup who was your first foster fail and previously was reactive to men. but yeah <3
i think he assumes anyone’s interest in him beyond sex is fake and comes from people thinking they can fix him or people who fetishize his pain because he’s all brooding and “emo” so getting into a relationship with him is hard! and it takes a while for him to get to a place where he can be in a healthy relationship and be a good partner (him being slightly possessive never changes tho)
