I finished the little mural I was working on for my friends of @besoslatinos_latinkisses the painting talks about the Aztec myth of the creation of the Macehuales (the created from sacrifice) and the Fifth Sun, pictured on the right is Mictlantecuhtli dark lord of the underworld and facing him on the left is Cihuacoatl goddess of fertility, both of them holding in the middle the sacred offer, the corn which will become the sustain of the new created men, sustain of life and current base of Mexican gastronomy and most civilizafion of mesoamerica. So I'm real close to finish this painting for the little project "sustento" things are looking good and for this one changed the technique to acrylic paint and brush.. so I don't get all Elliot Stables real high on spraycan fumes.. I started this painting at @besoslatinos_latinkisses the last week as part of a little project to create some consciousness about Mexican culture and importance of food as part of our cosmo-vision.. It is well known nowadays some bits and pieces of what Mexico "looks like" used for international fast food franchises and even Disney's millionaire productions, projects Mexican culture as a never ending "Day of the dead" kind of thing, it's funny how a celebration that happens only 1 day a year is target of so much marketing, the redundant and meaningless use of imagery pushing it to be an obsolete piece of consumption, I feel the need to share some of the knowledge I absorbed from my motherland, I don't want to tell anyone what to think, but I'm interested to enrich what you already know.. so if I see you face painted as a "catrina" I might tell who Guadalupe Posada was..
