Broke Hellenic Polytheist tips
So, if you’re like me, you’re poor. And that can make worship hard. Thankfully, my 3 braincells have some good ideas sometimes. So therefore, I’ll share them to the world! I hope this helps!
Water is a good offering. Seriously, use it. It’s good.
Pour a water libation into a plant. Super useful!
Milk is also a great offering. Don’t be afraid to use that.
Offering the first fruit of the harvest is another way, if you grow plants.
Cheap flowers make great offerings. Dry them out. Make garlands.
In my area, the really cheap bouquets are obviously really cheap. They’re a giant bundle of cheap flowers. Use those to have some nice flowers for a bit, but then offer them!
Or even better, gather flowers such as dandelions! Wildflowers are great, just make sure they’re not endangered. Be environmentally aware.
Join communities with resources and book clubs. I’m in one, and I love it so much. This’ll help further your practice.
Offer poetry. It’s free and convenient.
Offer art! Not exactly free, but a pencil and paper can do wonders.
Play music. My lyre playlist post will be linked at the bottom. Not only that, devotional playlists!
Salt! As pointed out by thegrapeandthefig, salt is sacred. Link at the bottom.
Thrift shops are great for candles.
Dollar store for more candles.
Goodwill always has surprises.
Offer them a small part of your dinner. Maybe pour out a little wine too.
While honey isn’t that cheap, it’s still an amazing offering for every once in awhile. Buy local to support local farmers.
Bread! Bread is great too.
Bread in the shape of things such as animals can work too.
Offering things such as cookies/oat cakes is a nice offering too.
Oats are great offerings! Especially barley oats!
Using the olive oil in an oil lamp is another way to save money. And, reusing it! Awesome!
Fruit/fruit slices, especially if they’re connected to or sacred to that god. For example; Pomegranate for Hera, Aphrodite, and Persephone.
