Hiiro: I told you thatā¦I had a talk with Tenshouin-senpai before our conversation on the phone in the rose garden, right?
Mayoi: Yes. On the car ride homeā¦You had told us that you were in the office reading fan letters.
Hiiro: It was a confusing, unclear series of questions and answers. However, from that moment on, I really began to care.
How will I meet my fansā expectations? How should I grant Tenshouin-senpaiās wishes? What is an idol, even?
I was told to think a lot about it, and Iāve been really thinking about until today butā
In the end, I wasnāt able to answer that question for myself. On reflection, since I was a little kid, nothing has changed.
Tatsumi: Since you were a little kid?
Hiiro: Even at that time, I would always keep thinking about what Nii-san had asked me.
At that time, I had an answer in mind, more-or-less butā
Because I didnāt want to disappoint him by saying the wrong thing, so I thought that I just wanted to think about it more carefully.
Because, if you cannot give the right answer, itās the same as being unable to fulfill your duty. Itās only meaningful to answer the question when you have the right answer, right?
Aira: Yeah? But itās not a problem on a test, itās just a question, right?
Itās not like a test at school where you get a score, so isnāt it harder to give an answer that fits perfectly?
Itād make me happy to hear your thoughts on just that, Hiro-kun.
I look at you, who can do anything, and thereās times where I think to myself āWhat the hell is guy?ā and get super frustrated.
If even Hiro-kun is worrying and thinking like this, I can see that weāre really just the similar in that way.
Hiiro: ā¦hm. I wish I could have a flexible way of thinking like you, Aira.
This time around though, I understood that both back then and now, Iām only brooding about, and that I have no confidence in the conclusion I reached. I felt like I didnāt grow.
Tatsumi: Donāt be so hard on yourself.
While you are bold enough to take action, on the other hand, you are also capable of holding your ground to make a careful judgmentā
Hiiro-san, isnāt it possible that your virtue to thoughtfully react to questions has stayed the same since you were a child?
Mayoi: Thatās right. And you have had a lot of growth, too.
Compared to when we first met, youāve grown dramatically in singing, dancing, and movements. If you can take my word for it, I can guarantee that.
Being a person who doesnāt know much about idols, Iām amazed at the amount of growth youāve accomplished over just one summer.
Even if youāre not similar to the others, we can work on the parts that you feel inexperienced at from this point on. Because we will help you as much as you needā¦āŖ
Aira: Senpais, youāre very parent-like when you say that.[1]
Hiiro: Was that just a haiku? No, if you donāt use the seasonal word, isnāt it considered a senryu haiku?[2]
Aira: No, Iām not reciting a poemā¦
Hiiro: Fufu. Thank you all for really talking with me a lot.
If only I could have answered with self-confidence. If only I could have been able to take action for Alkaloid, with my own judgmentā¦
I feel very guilty for the crisis that I have caused to everyone, and I will reflect upon my actions.
To know that I have comrades who are close to me, itās very reassuring. I feel more light-hearted now.
Mayoi: We are happy to see your smile, too, Hiiro-sanā¦āŖ
Tatsumi & Aira: ā¦ā¦āŖ
Hiiro: Like Mayoi-senpai said, I was able to grow a lot.
Iāve come to learn the common sense of the city, and of course, there are countless things Iāve gained since becoming an idolā¦For me too, Iām sure I figured out a couple of things, too.
Iāll think more optimistically from here on again. For a clear answer to Tenshouin-senpai, and what I can do for Alkaloid.
Tatsumi: Thatās right. There is nothing that you have to face by yourself, Hiiro-san.
The fact that a good result is required of Alkaloid, itās a problem that affects the entire unit.
Sooner or later, regardless of who started it, we would have something to confront.
Aira: I think if I had started it, and if Tenshouin-senpai had come at me like thatā¦To be honest, itās a scary thought.
Thatās why itās great that Hiro-kun thinks through everything and speaks up about it properly āŖ Youāre fine! Have some self-confidence!
Hiiro: Itās a bit of a strange feeling to get praised by you, Aira.
Aira: Hah~? Iām trying to cheer you up here!
Tatsumi: There, there. Itās embarrassing to get praised by Aira-san, isnāt it, Hiiro-san?
Aira: Eh~? Then choose that kind of language from the start.
Mayoi: ā¦ā¦ā¦
Hiiro: Why are you so quiet, Mayoi-senpai?
Mayoi: While I was listening to your pleasant conversation Iā¦I began to think again.
I thought about what Iād like to try with Alkaloid, and what Iād like to act on.
Hiiro: Did anything come to mind?
Mayoi: Noā¦
Nothing comes to mind, so Iāve started to wonder what we can do to get something we can call a good result, and also remove the obstacles in the way of our objectives.
To put it simply, to win some sort of award. But in reality, to become so popular that youāll have a schedule where youāre counting down by the minuteā
Itās the height of being an idolā¦Itās not like we ourselves covet the status of being popular figures.
Aira: We're the younger generation. Yeah, weāre not really hungry for power.Ā
I mean, have you ever thought of aiming to become one of ES' Big 3?! Honestly, I havenāt.
Tatsumi: The Big 3ā¦.Hm. If popularity ranking is visualized on the foundation of a clear, numerical value of L$, it may be an appropriate indicator of authority within ES.
Aira: But numbers arenāt everything, right?
Even for a term like ātop idolā, everyone has different criteria for what makes someone at the top.
In my case, I call someone a top idol when I can point at them and call them great butā¦
How well they sell, their ability, popularity...Financial power? It's not like the top idols in every sphere are all the same
Mayoi: Yeah. Even after this much deliberate thinking, thereās no way that we can just come up with something so suddenly, after allā¦
Tatsumi: The realization seems to be setting in that viewing things from an ordinary perspective will not doāFor both close goals, and far goals
Hiiro: ā¦.Thatās right but. Itās just one thing, but something came to mind for me.
Aira: Huh, when?
Hiiro: Less of being something that I want to do, itās more of something that came to mind.
Itād be a job for everyone in Alkaloid, and not only can we act on it at once, but I have a feeling that we would rake in some good experience.
I was told it was a happening on a large scaleā¦We should be able to get good results from it.
Aira: W-Wait a sec. Donāt leave me hanging, hurry up and tell us.
Hiiro: āYes.
Letās do a live. With Alkaloid, letās participate in Underland.
In Japanese, what Aira says here is a 5-7-5 syllable pattern, which is a haiku
A senryu haiku is a type of haiku that is usually a dark comedy about human fallacies
ā¦Well, I announced it but. With Tattsun-senpaiās hectic driving, Iām still kinda dragging my feet.
Mayoi: Since we hurried to get back here, thereās no time to be thinking about a vacation.
Aira: Iām glad we could get back quickly, if only thanks to that Rapture Driving.
I had a talk with Tenshouin-senpai as soon as I arrived at ES, so I want a break for my heart tooā¦
Tatsumi: Well then, let me continue our conversation. While we are talking, Iād also like to sort some things out.
Hiiro: Thank you, Tatsumi-senpai. Iāll also try to explain everything I know properly.
Tatsumi: You donāt have to get worked up about it. I was shocked at your statement in the rose garden butā¦
After my chat with Eichi-san, I was able to get the picture, albeit vaguely.
It was in some kind of ambiguous manner of speaking, but in short, Eichi-san is looking for a good result from Alkaloid for now, I suppose.
While participating in the nationwide idol festival SS despite being rookie idolsā
I feel like they were making the sort of request where, by then, we would have enough accolades to make a name for ourselves amongst other units, and they hoped they would become a foil for us.Ā
Aira: A newbie fresh off the farm participating in SS is kinda surprising, huh.
From an idol fanās standpoint, they might wonder how an idol group without the least bit of familiarity could even be in SS.
That is, not the prelim rounds, but the main one.
ā¦Well, Iāve also seen rumors online that ES is getting really fired up about this yearās SS. I donāt know what itāll be like.
Mayoi: However, if itās a demand specifically for Alkaloid, why didnāt they gather us to discuss it?
If you were to give orders to Alkaloid, wouldnāt it make more sense to gather the four of us to talk instead of messing around with just Hiiro-sanā¦?
Hiiro: ā¦We talked about this in the car, but I think itās because my remark was the thing that lit the fuse.
Aira: The thing you told us about before in the cafeteria, right?
When the staff member asked Alkaloid in the office about what kind of work Alkaloid would like to do in the future.
Hiiro: Yes. I didn't tell you what I had said in response to their question.
I replied that I had no particular hopesā¦Apparently, the so-called ābig-wigā of the office had heard my response.
Tatsumi: They said they were dissatisfied with Hiiro-sanās response, as he did not have the feeling of a strong spirit of both a rookie idol and a member of Starpro.
Since Iām sure the power to exert influence by those who hold authority in the agency is great, we know whatās going to happen to us, if only right nowā¦
Hiiro: Yeah. Since the big-wig harbors a bad impression of me, itās only natural that itās my duty to eradicate it.
Itās also because I am Alkaloidās leader.
The impressions of the monarch (leader) also become the impression of the unit that they govern.
I wonder if thatās why Tenshouin-senpai has been working on me to recover.
Tatsumi: This is nothing more than a guess, but Iām also of the same general opinion.
Mayoi: B-But! I was also there when the staff asked the question.
I didnāt think that what Hiiro-san was saying was a negative thing, and I even agreed with his point.
That is why Iām guilty of the same crimeā¦I donāt think that Hiiro-san is the only one that should feel liable.
Hiiro: Mayoi-senpaiā¦
Aira: I mean, even when Tattsun-senpai and I heard you talking about it in the cafeteria, I didnāt really think anything of it. Thereās no reason to get too worried about it, Mayo-san.
Besides, we know what Hiro-kun was feeling when he answered that, right?
So even when I listen to what Hiro-kun has to say now, itās kinda likeā¦I understand how someone could take what he said a different way.
Hiiro: Tenshouin-senpai also said that celebrities' comments can be taken out of context and circulated around.
Tatsumi: It is sad that a statementās true meaning, in its correct form, isnāt what gets passed around. Now, let us consider the things we can do, and the things we should do.
Perhaps this is the only time that Eichi-san is able to sound an alarm that is easy to understand.
Because pain is an essential part of growth. To overcome this pain, to use it as nourishment. To hope for an even greater growth.
Hiiro: Thatās right, I want to grow and become stronger. Enough that I can protect myself when I get caught in a real dilemma.
Aira: Maybe during a time like that, someone like Anzu-san will lend a hand. Itās not good to rely on others, though.
Mayoi: Even more, we need to do things like be able to sense or get out of a crisis all on our own. We have to gain our own strength as idols, huhā¦
Aira: Actually, Iād want the office to protect us from crises and threats, right? Isnāt that the point of an agency? Or at least thatās what I think it is.
But. Considering what happened to the other units, you just never know what the people of the office might do to you, huhā¦
Ah, Iām not bad mouthing the big-wigs or anything. Iām just talking about the cruelty of society!
Tatsumi: Itās fine. Weāre the only ones here, and since no one else is listening, please have some peace of mind.
Hiiro: ā¦Even though we are beings created by ESā
We cannot allow ES and Starpro to take control of the fate and initiative of Alkaloid forever.
Going forward, I donāt know whatās going to happen butā
To decide our own path. Perhaps we will be the ones able to determine that.

Hi there! Sorry to bother you, but I am currently compiling a masterlist of sorts for enstars translations since the old one is now inaccessible. I couldn't see a permission for this so I wanted to ask directly, would it be okay to include links to them on a masterlist? I completely understand if not, and thank you for your work regardless!
Of course! I have no problems with that. If you have any other questions, you can dm me here or on twt, too. Good luck with your masterlist!
Hiiro: Huh? I seem fidgety, youāre asking if Iām okay?
Ah, donāt worry. Iām just excited for the party. I canāt wait for it to begin!
By the way, Anzu-san, what are you holding?
Option 1: Itās a present
Oh, thatās the teddy bear that Aira thought was cute.
Aira said he wanted to line up everyone in Alkaloidās, so Iāll go show him mine right away āŖ
Option 2: I want you to put it on
Hm? This teddy bearā¦is called a āBirthday Cookieā?
I see. So thereās a rule that the birthday boy has to put this on. Thatās very informative, thank you!
Ā 2:
Hiiro: Hmā¦Thereās some very pretty flowers on this cake, but are they just decorations? I wonder if theyāre okay to eat?
Ah, Anzu-san. What good timing.
Is this cake okay to eat as-is?
Option 1: Itās a flower cake
Huh. So this flower is made of cream.
Iām still quite surprised how in the city, flowers can be made as food like this.
Option 2: Of course
Iām glad. Iāll try it at once!
Monch monchā¦Delicious! Itās good to both look at, and delicious to eat, what a wonderful cake!
Ā 3:
Hiiro: I found you, Anzu-san.
I spoke to you during the party, but I think that I still havenāt thanked you properly.
Once again, thank you for taking time out of your busy day. Iām really happy you could celebrate with us, Anzu-san.
Option 1: You too
Iām glad you enjoyed the party, Anzu-san!
I intend on working hard as an idol, so that we can celebrate again next year, as well. Anzu-san, I hope you continue to watch over me from now onā¦āŖ
Option 2: How was the party?
Yes! Of course, it was fun to see everyone from Alkaloid, but it was also fun to see everyone else and my Nii-san, as well!
Just as my Nii-san had taught me before, I made a proper toast. Iām glad I put all the etiquette Iāve learned to good use āŖ
Aira:
Morning:
åÆćęć§ććē®č¦ć¾ćć«ęØććć¤ć¹ćčØå®ćććäøēŗć§čµ·ćććććć«ćŖć£ććć ! ć¢ć¤ćć«ęé«āŖ
I set my alarm to my faveās voice, so now I can wake up in one shot, even on cold mornings! Idols are the bestāŖ
Rinne:
Morning:
ćććÆćÆāćć~ćććåÆćć§é¼»ć®é ćēć£čµ¤ć ćŖć äæŗć£ć”ćć«ć¤ć代ććć«ćŖć£ć¦ćććć?
Kyahaha ā Onee-san, the tip of your nose is bright red from the cold. How ābout I act as your heater?
[i donāt like the phrasing here, he needs to sound more dick-ish and also holy fuck iām swooning]
Night:
åÆćå¤ć«ćÆéćé£ććććŖććŖćä»ę„ćÆć Crazy:Bć ć®ćć¤ććéćć¦éćć§ććććć£āŖ
God, cold nights make you crave hot pot, huh. Maybe Iāll get the Crazy:B guys together to throw a hot pot party āŖ
Hiiro: Thatās wrong, I had no such intentionā¦!
Eichi: āI know that. So now Iām working with you on a way to quell the emotions of someone who might take it that way.ā
Hiiro: What should I do?
Eichi: āYou collect yourself in the blink of an eye. Itās very helpful how quick you are to ascertain the situation, Hiiro-kun āāāŖā
āIt's a simple thing. If you have made them think badly of you, you can make them think well of you from now on. You can change oneās impression with your future work.ā
āAlthough I say that, upper management is quite short-tempered. We need Alkaloid to work quicker until it is time for SS.ā
Hiiro: We must work to change an impressionā¦
Eichi: āAs an idol, you must act with an objective in mind. To have a higher purpose, and put it into practice.ā
āRepeat that and keep shining like a starāAnd no one will ever be anxious or dissatisfied with you.ā
Hiiro: I thought about this when I checked the message, but youāre saying the same things as when we first started this summer, Tenshouin-senpai.
Eichi: āReally? The me back then is the same as the me speaking right now, right?ā
āāWell, I think itās about time youāve figured it out. What you all, what you, should be doing now.ā
Hiiro: (It was easier to understand this than what he was saying back when we were having a conversation in the office spaceā¦I think.)
(As the word āhintā would suggest, Tenshouin-senpai had a definite demand for me, and a blunt conversation certainly unfolded.)
(My statement that could be taken the wrong way. In the conversation the other day and now, Tenshouin-senpaiās point.)
(But if I work hard enough to overturn that impression, it will also tie together to grant that wish.)
(As an idolā¦I must have a higher purpose, I must work voluntarily. I must put things into practice, I must achieve success. That means thatā)
Iām not confident I can convey this in my own words, so Iāll borrow them from a past you, Tenshouin-senpai.
You said to me, āOne must prove their usefulness,ā didnāt you?
In order to make ourselves shine brightly as Alkaloid, now that we've fulfilled our duty over the summer.
Eichi: āThatās not a bad idea āŖ Iām impressed with how much wisdom youāve gained since the summer.ā
āThis is an industry in which you must not only be just active enough to force your opposition into submission, but also keep your wits about you and be shrewdāif you wish to survive, that is.ā
āI wonder how you will command Alkaloid. I have high expectations for you, Hiiro-kunā¦āŖā
Mayoi: Hah, fugughā¦!
Ah, Hiiro-san! Thank god, I finally found yooooooou!
Hiiro: Mayoi-senpai.
Mayoi: You suddenly disappeared, and I was frightened to death!
I wish I could have also jumped in that gap in the hedge, but another guest had just arrived andā¦
I was late running over because I was worried about getting seen. Ugh, Iām so sorryā¦
Hiiro: No, donāt apologize. It was my fault.
Mayoi: Fuah? Hiiro-san, you have a cut on your cheekā¦
Hiiro: Huh?
Mayoi: I wonder if itās just a scrape⦠Itās just a little, but thereās some red blood oozing out. Does it hurt?
Hiiro: Itās nothing. If you hadnāt told me, Mayoi-senpai, I donāt think I would have even noticed I got hurt.
Did I rub against a rose thorn?
Mayoi: Thatās probably it⦠When we get back, Iāll properly disinfect it, and it should quickly heal.
Hiiro: Yeah, thank you.
ā¦Hah, Iām pathetic. Not only could I not stop myself from reacting on the spot, but I even got hurt.
Mayoi: Speaking of which, why did you jump into the hedge in the first place?
You were in a bit of a daze before, but I thought that surely you had been lost in thought againā¦
Hiiro: I had heard sounds in the distance, and I was cautiously concentrating on the signs.
I was trying to figure out what the animal might be, when I saw a white shadowā¦Then I reached my hand out to catch it.
In the end, the shadow wasnāt a hare, or anything like that. It was just a torn off white rose branch that had come tumbling away here.
Mayoi: Wow. Even such a splendid branch could come tumbling in the windā¦
Fufu, at any rateā¦
If it really was a white hare, then thatās exactly like Aliceās story, which we talked about earlier.
Hiiro: Chasing a hare down a hole, thatās the beginning of the story.
I would be surprised if there really were hares that took out pocket watches, though. That certainly seems difficult to catch.
???: Ah, there you are!
Tatsumi: Thank goodness we were able to find the two of you safe and sound.
Aira: Ugh, I was so worried. Hiro-kun never responded to my HallHands message, and Mayo-san stopped replying halfway throughā¦
H-Huh, AAAhhh!? Whatās that scrape on your cheek! What do we do with an idol that has a cut on their face!?
Hiiro: Y-Yes. Sorry for everything.
Tatsumi: Oh, well. Itās not good that you got hurt, but if itās just a scratch like this, you can hide it with makeup and it wonāt interfere with your work.
When I heard from Mayoi-san that Hiiro-san had disappeared, I wondered what had happened. Iām glad we found you.
Mayoi: I-Iām sorry. I was also shakenā¦
Hiiro: Wow, I have a lot of unread messages. I was talking on the phone, so I didnāt realize I got them.
Aira: On the phone? With who?
Hiiro: Yeah. Tenshouin-senpai called me.
Tatsumi: From Eichi-san
Hiiro: Hmmm, thatās right. Itās definitely something I should talk to you all about, but where do I even startā¦
Aira & Mayoi: ?
Hiiro: I heard some bad news.
Because of me, Alkaloid may be facing a new crisis.
Hiiro: (I grabbed a white thing in the gap of the hedge!)
(If I extend my hand like this, surely I can catch it!)
Woah, there, there.
ā¦Huh?
(Nothing was there? Then what in the world was that thing that grazed my outstretched finger just then?)
A white roseāsābranch?
ā¦ā¦
I wonder if the strong winds have broken the flowers, even though they are blooming so beautifully. It looks like the flowers are damaged, too, I wonder whyā¦
āAh, it could have been that. The sound I was hearing could have been branches rolling in the wind.
Itās broken in a fairly thick place⦠Itās no wonder that awfully loud sound was drawing closer.
I thought it was a rabbit or a bird when I caught a glimpse of it through the gap. It wasnāt even a living thing.
Iāll put it in the corner so it won't roll away again. Sorry to frighten you, Mayoi-senpai.
Mayoi-senpai?
(Heās goneā¦)
(I guess. I must have gotten lost when I dove into the gap in the hedge.)
He~y, Mayoi-senpai?
ā¦No reply. Thatās strange, I donāt think Iāve wandered too far away.
Or have I stepped into some kind of maze that Mayoi-senpai had mentioned earlier? Which direction can I go to meet up with him?
Yeahā¦
Ah, should I give him a call? Heās probably worried about me, because of my sudden disappearance.
As long as you have a smartphone, you can get in touch with someone who is faraway. The advancement of civilization is amazing, huhā¦āŖ
Open HallHands and go toā¦.Uh. Hmmm?
(The title of this message is sparklingā¦Which means this is a Glitter Mail, isnāt it? What in the world could this message be?)
(...Itās from Tenshouin-senpai?)
Uhmm⦠āWhich would you like to hear first, the good news or the bad news?ā
(Thatās it? I donāt even know what heās trying to tell me. Iāve heard this line somewhere, but this just sounds like a practical joke.)
(However. The fact that he went to the trouble of contacting me through a function that only the leader of each unit can use, rather than a personal communication meansā¦)
(This message probably means something regardingā¦)
!
āHello?
Eichi: āHi there, good afternoon. Thanks for opening my message āŖā
Hiiro: ? How did you know I saw your message?
Eichi: āI set it up so that Iād get read receipts. And if you opened it, that means you now have a smartphone in your hand.ā
āDo you have a few minutes to chat now?ā
Hiiro: I have time, butā¦Iād appreciate it if you got this over with as quickly as possible.
Iāve been separated from my companions, and because Iām sure Iām making them worry, Iād like to meet up with them as soon as possible.
Eichi: āOya, a missing child? Well, I donāt want to spend too much time giving you a choice, so Iāll start with the good news.ā
ā...The truth is, these days, the readings I got from my periodic medical check-up were unusually good āŖā
Hiiro: Medical check-up?
Eichi: āSince last month I was disappointedly hospitalized, inside I was deathly afraid of coming out with bad numbers.ā
āIām relieved to hear that it didn't turn out that way. The doctor said there was no problem, and I will have the energy to carry out various activities from now on.ā
Hiiro: ā¦Hm. For now, Iāll say congrats, but this talk is really none of my concern, is it?
Since you went through all the trouble of sending me a message, I figured the topic had something to do with me.
Eichi: āWell I think itās good news for you, too.ā
āBecause if I don't have to be away from the office, it means I can prevent things from happening out of my sight.ā
āFor exampleā¦Regarding the decisions made by the upper management of Starpro, other than myself.ā
āThings like avoiding a unit being reconstructed or dismantled.ā
Hiiro: Thatāsā
Eichi: ā...Letās talk about the bad news from here. As you requested, Hiiro-kun, letās keep this short.ā
āItās been a few days since I asked my question. Have you found any answers?ā
Hiiro: ā¦Not yet. No, not yet. Iāve been thinking about it for a long time, but I havenāt been able to come up with an answer.
I canāt manage to come up with an answer that would satisfy Tenshouin-senpai, let alone an answer that I would be satisfied with.
The more I ruminate about what you saidā¦.The more it appears that I miss the mark, and I return to my starting place.
Eichi: āHm, so youāre lost in your thoughts, as well. Well, I was looking to change my roundabout way of doing things, so I gave you a call.ā
āWhile Iām waiting for you to answer, I donāt want upper management to make things worse. As itād be more troublesome if they take action,Ā Iāll give you a hint.ā
Hiiro: A hintā¦
Eichi: āA few days ago, you had a conversation with the staff at Starpro, didnāt you? Regarding Alkaloid from here on out.ā
Hiiro: Yes. They asked me what kind of work Iād like to doā¦I told them I didnāt have anything particular in mind.
I didnāt think of this at the time, but because I also felt that because my experience as an idol was inadequate, I was not in a position to express my wishes.Ā
Of course I feel that I want to do all sorts of things with everyone in Alkaloid butā¦
As Mayoi-senpai said, I wonder if working hard at whatever job gets thrown at us is the best we can do for now.
Eichi: ā...So Hiiro-kun, if I am listening what youāre saying correctly, while I understand this humble remark is typical of new idolsāā
āWhat celebrities say can always be whittled down, taken out of context, and passed down with an implication you didnāt mean.ā
Hiiro: ?
Eichi: āSuppose someone asked about your work from here on out, and they heard by chanceĀ āI have no particular wishesā as the reply.ā
āYou had become the protagonists of the summer, and just when it looks like you're about to take off...ā
āThose words would be as if to say that you are an idol with no ambition, without aspirations. So that's exactly how you'll be received āŖā

The next day
Niki: Heh~, itās Rinne-kunās Feature Live! So thatās why you came to Cinnamon for this briefing, then.
But why are we all here, too? Well, Iām in the kitchen, so it's not like weāre all together.
Rinne: Itās ācause I told her, āLetās hang out with all the guys from Crazy:B āā
Kohaku: Well I donāt really remember the details butā¦I didnāt really think weād get a full Crazy:B gathering here.
HiMERU: If Amagi had called HiMERU, he would not have complied. If it is Anzu's wish, however, HiMERU has no choice.
āBut the fact that all members are here means that there is something they wish to ask usā¦There must be some sort of reason.
Rinne: Youāve got good judgment āŖ Anzu-chan wants to discuss the candid shot for the liveās pamphlet.
Niki: Candid shotā¦Like the ones where you take pictures of people in their natural state?
Kohaku: Hmph. So to see what kind of photos would be good, you want to ask us, since we know Rinne-han well.
HiMERU: What do the other candid shots look like? ā¦Their daily life, perhaps?
Niki: Ye~ah, well thatās kinda bad taste, ācause Rinneās daily life is just playing mahjong here.
Kohaku: Still, thatās better than gettinā him when heās out at a pachinko parlor in town, donāt ya think?
HiMERU: It would not be desirable to publish a photo of him drinking⦠It is true, Amagiās candid shot may be troublesome.
Rinne: Hey, what do you think Iām doing in my free time! Thereās more to my daily life than you guys are aware of!
Ah~Ah, Iām hurt⦠Iām going to have to beat Niki up later.
Niki: Why just me!?
Rinne: (igoring) You think itās unfair, too, Anzu-chan? Maybe you know more ābout what I do in my free time than I do?
Donāt you remember me doing a whole buncha stuff?
ā¦Arcade? Ah, when we went on a date, I won you a stuffed animal, thatās right.
Then after thatā¦I see, I see, we also met up at a shrine on New Yearās āŖ Iāve taken good care of the good luck charm you gave me.
Oh, you even know that I went to volunteer in that club, huh? Well, Iām not sure if you can call that everyday life or not.
Kohaku: Wow. Anzu-han, you know more about Rinne-han than I thought. And here I just thought he had a good face.
Rinne: Unlike you lot, Anzu-chan sees me as a good and wholesome Onii-san āŖ
Niki: No, no, Iām sure heās done some horrible atrocity somewhere! Nee-san, please do your best to remember!
HiMERU: āNo. HiMERU doesnāt think there is much more Anzu-san can tell us.
Niki: ? Why did HiMERU-kun respond?
HiMERU: It was deduced from her behavior and gestures.
Of course, HiMERU does think that the relationship between an idol and their producer should be kept strictly professional, but...
A business partner relationship can be a restrictive perspective to see from.
If you donāt know your idols well enough, you canāt even take a candid shot that would please the fans.
That's why Anzu-san has called HiMERU and the others together to deepen their understanding of Amagi. Is that wrong?
Kohaku: Ah, sheās noddinā her head. We also had a candidate for an off-work scene like we talked about, but it's not quite right for the pamphletā¦
Rinne: The hell. You shouldāve asked me out on a date in the first place.
You wanna get to know me better, right? We can go out together, and you can look at me in private all you want āŖ
Niki: Didnāt she already tell you that idols canāt date anyone before~?
Rinne: Thatās why we call this work. Itāll be an investigationā
Hmm? Whatās wrong. If weāre going out as an investigation, you want the rest of you guys in Crazy:B to come alongā¦?
Kohaku: With us around, we can definitely avoid havinā just the two of them aloneā¦
But that's not just it, I feel like Rinne-hanās private life is connected to Crazy:B, isnāt it? So it's good that weāre together, right?
HiMERU: āThat is somewhat regrettable. Anzu-san, please tell us your opinion.
Niki: ...Itās ācause we meet up all the time to play mahjong at cinnamon?
HiMERU: And he's always trying to organize celebrations for us?
Kohaku: And 'cause he said he wanted to take and show us his personalized outfit first thing after it was done?
Rinne: ā¦No, wait, wait. Anzu-chan, youāve got this expression like youāre tellinā us some heartwarming episode.
Niki: Nahaha āŖ He even buys us souvenirs when he wins at gambling.
Rinne: Iām just tryinā to not let a penny sleep in my pocket overnight.
HiMERU: Thank goodness, Amagi. Anzu-san seems to think of you as a leader who cherishes his friends.
Rinne: ā¦Tch. At this rate the me in the pamphlet will be some dumbass with no poison or needle.
Well then, guess I gotta show Anzu-chan my private lifeā¦!
HiMERU: āGood grief. In the end, we all ended up at an amusement park.
Niki: Nah, coming here was lucky for me! Right now thereās a limited cutlet inside the park, as well as limited seasonal food, thatās super popularā¦āŖ
I have to go look for it right now! Sniff, sniff⦠Is it in that direction~?
Kohaku: I see weāre already goinā our separate ways. Well, why donāt you at least grab a map before you run off?
HiMERU: ā¦Fufu. Oukawa must also be interested in food if he so obediently follows Shiinaās lead.
HiMERU doesn't have anything special to do, so heād like to find somewhere indoors to restā¦
Rinne: Merumeruās off doinā his own thing now, too. Whatās the difference between this and just the two of us coming together?
Oh well. I just hope that today, this time, you can find the me you wanna show off in your pamphlet, Anzu-chan.
So now Iāll hand over this memo. Oops, donāt look at the contents yet, okay?
Well, this memo is a proposal compilation of all the ideas Rinne-kunās come up with for his feature live ā
Of course, Iāve also written down some stuff ābout candid shots, so? Iām the best person to decide whatāll please the fans, after all āŖ
Gyahaha ā You didnāt think Iād come up with a plan?
Itās a thank you, itās thanks. When you made me my personalized outfit, you didnāt mind pastinā the āproblem childā label all over me, and let me shine, you know?
Rinne-kunās the type of person who sells a favor but never owes a debt.
...Youāll be observinā me for the next few hours, right? Then, after the date is over, we'll compare your opinion with this memo.
Without this kind of tactic, everythingād be boring, wouldnāt it āŖ If two people see eye-to-eyeā
A New Game Making the Rounds 1 -Ā Rinne Feature Scout 2
Kohaku: (Yeah, it was a mistake to open the script in the office. Before I knew it, it was pitch black.)
(I should go home and get ready for tomorrow. Nah, maybe get dinner first?)
(Itās a pain to do stuff at Seisou Hall, so Iām gonnaā stop by a convenience store todayā)
(...Huh. Is that Anzu-han who just walked in front of me?)
Good eveninā, have you been working all the way ātill now?
Hey, you donāt gotta jump so suddenly. Itās not like Iām concealinā the sound of my footsteps right now, ya know?
You were so lost in thought, so you didnāt notice me, huh? Sorry, ācause it seems I startled you.
Me? I was reading the script in the office, and it got late. I was on my way home right now butā¦
āYour eyes look like you got somethinā to say to me. Iām curious ābout all the things youāve been thinkinā about, so Iāll at least listen to what you have to say.
a few minutes later
Huhuh, so you stayed out late, looking for Rinne-han, all around ESā¦
When I last heard from him, he said he was at ES, but I couldnāt reach him after that, so here we are.
We already got confirmation he aināt gone back to Seisou Hall, and he isnāt at Cinnamon, either. Maybe heās out gamblinā in town or something.
Hm~, but Rinne-han was the one who asked you to come to ES, after allā¦
Iād like to think he aināt the kind of useless bastard to string you along, so Iāll help you look for him.
Then I can scold him on your behalf, askinā why heās such a nuisance to you, Producer-han āŖ
Fumu, fumu. So we havenāt looked in the dressing room, the props room, the information room, the fire escape, and the heliport yetā¦
Well letās go look in order then, from here the closest isā
Kohaku: I donāt think Rinne-hanās got any business in the dressing room butā¦
ā¦ā¦ (examining the state of the room)
Nah, heās here. Anzu-han, if you listen carefully, you can hear that bastard snorinā away like an idiot.
ā¦Hah. Whatās this blockhead doing sleepinā on the sofa with his stomach out?
Youāre gonna wake him up with a shout? Fufu, Anzu-han, youāre so kind. If it were up to me, Iād take a swing right at that defenseless belly of his.
Rinne: Snore, snore, exhale.
Fuha⦠Who dares wake me from my slumber~?
Sorry, but could ya let me sleep a little more? This bedās real comfy.
Why the hellās Anzu-chan in the dorms, anyways? Aināt it a rule that women arenāt allowed in Seisou?
This aināt Seisou, itās ES? And this aināt a bed, itās a sofaā¦?
Ah, no wonder. Since you were starinā at me, I thought Iād get a good view, thatās all āŖ
ā¦This room, too, itās the ES dressing room, now that I look closely. Damn, I never thought Iād doze off in a place like this.
Hmm? You got worried when you couldnāt reach me?
ā¦Ah~, I remember now. Weād set up plans to meet, right, Anzu-chan?
Wow, my phone ran outta juice. No wonder you couldnāt get in touch.
Kohaku: ā¦Donāt just laze about forever, apologize first!
Rinne: Gyah, that was close~⦠Kohaku-chan, you seriously tried to take a swing at me, didnātcha!?
Kohaku: Itās your fault for sitting on your ass, and droninā on and on. Look, Iām sorry.
Rinne: Anzu-chan, Iām sorry?
ā¦Or rather, Iām glad we could finally meet up, but I guess we canāt take care of business this late, can weā¦?
For now, Iāll take responsibility and get us a cab home. Letās head out.
Nah, but it was really my bad! Rinne-kun will reflect upon his actions!
It was my bad I made you stay up late to look for me, and it was my bad I made you worry about me.
So as an apology, from here on out, Iāll go out with Anzu-chan as much as I can āŖ
And if you want, I can even let the other guys in Crazy:B tag along too⦠ā
Kohaku: Hey. Don't make us your add-on.
Rinne:ā¦Oh, the cab finally came. Look, Anzu-chan hopped in real quick.
Kohaku: Yeah, weāll be home soon too, so donāt worry. Anzu-han, be careful on your way home too.
Rinne & Kohaku: ā¦ā¦
Kohaku: āRinne-han. You were awake when we entered the dressing room earlier, werenāt you?
Rinne: Hm~? Whatāre you on about?
Kohaku: You suddenly started snorinā so. Youāre a bad person if you were feigninā sleep.
Rinne: Which one of us is the bad guy here? āCause Kohaku-chan, you snagged something off of me, right?
Kohaku: Kokoko āŖ When you said I snagged something from you, you mean this memo?
It seems that even you couldnāt stop me while Anzu-han was botherinā you, Rinne-hanā¦āŖ
Rinne: And I even hid it under the cushion as quickly as I could. Good grief,Ā if you got no carelessness or weaknesses, you donāt got charm.
ā¦So, whatās inside? You see it?
Kohaku: Nah. I only saw some bullet points.
Rinne: So you saw it, huh.
Kohaku: I didnāt even read what was in there. So, whatās that memo about, anyway?
Your plans with Anzu-chan, theyāre also related to this memo, right?
Rinne: Ah, Anzu-chan wanted to talk to me about my Feature Live, you see.
And so here we are. I, being the kind person I am, holed myself up in the deserted dressing room to write some ideas down for Anzu-chanās sake butā¦
That sofa, itās soft and fluffy, you see? So I really fell right asleep, just before you two entered the room, get it?
Kohaku:But you were in good spirits for the liveā¦Well, itās fine. You shouldnāt be gettinā seduced by the sofa and causinā trouble for others.
Rinne: Donāt gotta tell me that.
I mean, isnāt it admirable that Iām preparinā for the meeting in the first place?
Kohaku: Hah?
Rinne: Iām so fired up for the live that Iām standinā solo, carrying the whole unit on my back, donāt you see how cute your little Rinne-kun is?
Kohaku: How can you be cute? Stop joking around, weāre goinā home.
Ah, thatās right. I wanted to stop by the convenience store. In any case, you might as well tag along, Rinne-han.
Mayoi: We were going to take our time looking around, but somehow, we ended up at the rose garden.
I was reading the explanations for each flower, but I lost track of which direction Aira-san and Tatsumi-san were heading inā¦
Hiiro: I was able to follow them up to the halfway point butā¦As I forgot myself in the beautiful flowers, I lost sight too.
Mayoi: Well, just because we are now two different groups walking around inside the park, it doesnāt mean that we are stranded apart.
I think the both of us and the both of them are enjoying the appreciation of nature.
Hiiro: Yes. We share the same destination, the rose garden, so Iām sure if we wait, theyāll come, too.
Mayoi: There seems to be a gazebo nearby. Would you like to take a break and wait for the two of them there?
Hiiro: Ga-Gaze? Gazeebou
Mayoi: Sorry, incomprehensible for you. A gazebo is a Western-style pavilion.
Hiiro: Huh, I didn't realize that sort of building had such a name.
Mayoi: However, it might not be able to protect us from the windā¦
Hiiro: I was worried about that, too. The wind has been getting stronger since a while ago, right?
Look now, thereās some rose petals flying in the wind from somewhere.
Mayoi: If so many roses bloom like this, it might be difficult to tell where they come flying from.
Hiiro: In all directions, as far as the eye can see, rose petals litter the sky. Red petals, white petalsā¦
Mayoi: ā¦Fufu. When you say āred and white petalsā, it sounds like something that would come out of Aliceās story.
We hereāAnd Alkaloid, as wellāAre based on both playing card and soldier motifsā¦āŖ
Hiiro: Aliceā¦When you say Alice, you mean Alice in Wonderland, correct?
Mayoi: Yes. Hiiro-san, Youāre familiar with Alice in Wonderland, then?
I was a little surprised that you knew about it, since the gardener card soldiers are not very prominent characters.
Hiiro: No, Iām not familiar with the story in the slightest. I only know the beginning of the story, which I only happened to read the other day.
Thatās why I didnāt really get it when you said that it was like Aliceās story. I was just going to ask you about it.
Mayoi: Ah, I seeā¦
In Alice in Wonderland, there are playing cards that try to coat white roses with red paint.
Hiiro: ? Why paint white roses red?
Mayoi: Because they had planted white roses in a spot where only red roses should have bloomed.
And if red roses do not bloom there, the Queen of Hearts will have off with their heads.Ā
Hiiro: Is that right?⦠Even if they were white, they would have bloomed beautifully, right?
Mayoi: No, every flower earnestly blooms. Isn't the act of repainting their beauty an unbeautiful act?
Hiiro: I seeā¦
Mayoi: For the gardening cards, they disobeyed orders when they planted the white roses.
Perhaps there was no time to think about anything else, as to protect their lives from the Queenās unreasonable wrath.
ā¦Perhaps, well, I canāt help but speculate about whatās inside the story.
Hiiro: If the roses got smeared with paint, it must have covered up the smell..
Mayoi: Thatās true. It would be a shame to paint over not only the color but also the fragrance.
It smells so wonderful just standing here in the rose gardenā¦Although, if you approach the roses blooming in splendid glory, āāthey smell even sweeter and more intense.
Hiiro: sniff, sniffā¦Yeah, thereās a strong smell. Just being next to them and taking a sniff, itās as if itās enough to completely fill my lungs.
Mayoi: Itās because itās flashy and memorable. This red rose variety seems to be of a particularly strong scent.
Some varieties have a gentler aroma, while others have an invigorating one.
Hiiro: Is that right?
Mayoi: Yes. Iām sure that the white roses over there smell different from the red roses here.
Hiiro: Hmā¦Depending on color, even the roseās aroma changes, I see.
Mayoi: There are many varieties of roses. Not only red and white, but also pink, orange, yellow, purple, and many other colors.
Different colors determine different symbolism, and the number of roses also has meaning.
Although we just call it a rose, itās a flower that can have many different characteristics depending on the way it looks, smells, and feels.
Hiiro: So itās not just the breed that has a lot of variety. I learned a lot!
Listening to what you had to say, Mayoi-senpai, suddenly made me interested in the place. I wonder if we can see more kinds of roses if we continue deeper into the garden.
Mayoi: I think that as well, butā¦It would be best to continue on after meeting up with Aira-san, Tatsumi-san, yes?
The back of the rose garden seems to be a maze. It would be a disaster if we get lost after entering there.
Hiiro: ā¦ā¦?
Mayoi: Letās wait at the pavilion a while, and try contacting them once.
I hope Iām not interrupting any of the fun you two are having togetherā
Uhiyahh!?
Ahhh, sorry for my sudden, strange yelp. There was a strong gust of wind that made my hair smack into my lipsā¦!
Hiiro: (What is that sound, I wonder? I think I can hear something mixed in with the sound of the wind.)
(Are they coming closer to our location? It's not the sound of human footsteps, but having said that, it's not an animal eitherā¦)
ā¦ā¦.
Mayoi: Um, Hiiro-san?
Hiiro: (The wind is blowing from the east. This sound is also from the east, and it is already coming close to usā)
Tatsumi: We are at the entrance of the flower garden. If you go ahead, there will be a plaza, along with playground equipment for children to play.
The greenhouse is on the left hand side, and if you face the right, you will see the exhibition area. At the back of the garden, there is a wooden deck and a pond. The rose garden, which is the one you are looking for, isā
Airać»Mayoi: ā¦ā¦
Tatsumi: Are you listening? Are you okay, Aira-san, Mayoi-san?
Aira: Ahhugh, Iām listening, sure. Thanks for giving us the tour, Tattsun-senpai.
But Iām still a littleā¦dizzy. You might wanna let me chill just a bit more.
Mayoi: Hayiah, car⦠Afuah, scary.
Aira: Hey, Mayoi-san, you sound kinda like a broken car stereo.
I tried looking for trains and buses, but a car was the fastest way to get here soā¦
Well, I personally like it when Tattsun-senpai isnāt taking the wheel.
Tatsumi: Hm⦠Maybe to get more people to like me behind the wheel, I should practice driving more.Ā
Aira: Taking that positively is just wrongā¦
Ugh, I might just have to get Mayo-senpai to hurry up and get his license already. Mayo-senpai, youāre my only hope.
Mayoi: Ahhā¦. Iām now receiving Aira-sanās hopeful and tear-ridden gazeā¦?
Ufufu, fufu āŖ I feel better already āŖ
Tatsumi: Thatās excellent. You two seem to be looking much better, have you settled down?
Mayoi: Yes, a bit⦠Thank you for driving us here, Tatsumi-san.
āWell, then. Aside from myself and Aira-san, Iām worried aboutā¦
Hiiro: ā¦ā¦
Aira: He~ey, Hiro-kun? Come come you havenāt added anything to the conversation for a while?
The only person who could even remotely enjoy Tatsun-senpaiās driving is Hiro-kun, and even he was awfully quiet during the driveā¦
Hiiro: I was just looking at the scenery outside. Itās the first time Iāve been here, and the first time Iāve taken that road.
Tatsumi: Do you have a stomachache? Do you have any idea if you ate something bad or not?
Hiiro: Yes, don't worry. I'm in perfect health.
Mayoi: Well, letās see. Have you ever had carsickness, like Aira-san and Iā¦?
Hiiro: I donāt think so. I'm not wobbly or dizzy, or anything.
Aira: Well, then whyāre you so quiet? If thereās anyone who lets their eyes get all sparkly, itās Hiro-kun.
Hiiro: The reason I havenāt said too much is probablyā¦because Iām lost in thought.
Mayoi: Lost in thought, are you?
Hiiro: Iāve been thinking about it for a long time, and I have yet to find an answer.Ā
Aira: Whyās that? You seem to be able to make a quick decision on anything, Hiro-kun.
Tatsumi: While Iām not sure what exactly you have been thinking aboutā
If you have concerns, let us think about it together. Why donāt you confide in us a bit?
Hiiro: Thank you, Tatsumi-senpai.
But, itās just something that I have to think about myself. Otherwise thereās no point in me bothering someone to askā¦I think.
Aira: Thatās not clear at allā¦!
Mayoi: Well, well. Everyone has a secret or two that they can't tell anyoneā¦
I suppose thereās also always problems that one must either keep secret or face head-on alone.
Hiiro: Sorry if Iāve made you all worried. As I said before, I am not sick, so I want you all to rest easy!
Now that weāre all able to come to the flower garden, letās enjoy it to its fullestā¦āŖ
Aira: Aha. Yeah, yeah, thatās good.
If you spend some time looking at the scenery and all the pretty flowers, you can relax and make some progress with what youāre thinking about, right?
Tatsumi: We originally came to this place to relax, anyway. I hope it will be a nice change of pace.
Where would you like to head first? Itās no problem if youād like to think while we look around at the nearby flower beds.
Aira: Well I want to take a photo in front of that hedge over there! I just saw how pretty the flowers on it were blooming.
Tattsun-senpai, do you know what kind of flowers these are?
Tatsumi: Fufu, if you walk without looking where youāre going, youāll trip. That flower there is certainlyā
Hiiro: ā¦ā¦
Mayoi: Um, are you sure youāre okay?
Hiiro: Uh, yeah. Iām fine.
Mayoi: Um, well, Iām not doubting your health butā¦
Hiiro: ā¦Hm, I just canāt do it. Iāve decided to change my mind and enjoy myself, but Iāve made you all worry about me.
Mayoi: Well, why don't we walk around the park first? Perhaps if you come into contact with some flowers or greenery, the desire to enjoy nature might take over.
Maybe it would be good to try and take some photos with flowers, like Aira-san.
Hiiro: Photos, huh⦠I see, letās take some together, Mayoi-senpai āŖ
Mayoi: Eh? I just wanted Hiiro and the flowers to be in the shot, notā
Hiiro: Hmmm. To take a āSelfie,ā you first have to access the phoneās front-camera, or whatever itās called, right?
ā¦How do I switch to the front camera again?
Mayoi: Tap this button in the corner of the screen. When you do so, you will seeā¦Your face will now be displayed āŖ
Hiiro: Youāre right, I can now take a photo with you, huh. Could you get a little closer to me?
Mayoi: L-Like this
Hiiro: Yes, thatās right. The flowers in the background are perfect, and Iām sure that this will achieve what Aira calls āa bangerā pic.
Mayoi: (Now that weāre having an everyday conversation, things can return to normalā¦?)
(With this rhythm, I hope I can clear away Hiiro-sanās gloom.)
Hiiro: ā¦Alright, I got a good shot āŖ
However, when I look around again, I really see all kinds of flowers in bloom. It seems as if the flower fields go on forever.
Which way is the rose garden that Aira said he wanted to see?
Mayoi: Itās in a different direction than the way Aira-san and Tatsumi-san walked, thoughā¦
We have a full day of time, so shall we enjoy the other flowers while we make our way to the rose garden?
Hiiro: Yes, letās do that. I wonder if my favorite flower is somewhere in the park.
Mayoi: Oh, so you have a favorite flower, Hiiro-san?
Hiiro: Yeah. Iām not really knowledgeable about flowers, though. In my hometown, there's a flower that blooms on the slopes of the mountains in the fall andā

Hiiro: (I came to pick up the fan letters once I heard that they had finished sorting them.)
(I should thank the staff who took time out of their busy schedule to prepare the letters for me, because I knew they would want to read them as soon as possible.)
ā¦ā¦ā¦ (Scanning through a letter)
(Even in a city overflowing with technological conveniences, there still remains a culture of people sending their thoughts through paperā¦)
(Everyone took time and put their feelings into the paper they wrote. By receiving them like this, we can really feel their feelings this way.)
(Itās a very warming thing, huh.)
Eichi: What are you about, humming alongside? Could it be that youāre reading fan letters?
Hiiro: ā¦Tenshouin-senpai?
Eichi: Yes, itās me. I thought Iād get up to try to take a break, and thatās when I saw you.
I wonder if those letters said enough good things to put you in high spirits.
Hiiro: Of course thereās that, but I was more just happy to be able to look through them.
Aira told me about them. He told me that every fan takes time selecting an envelope and stationary for us.
They put a lot of effort into the various parts of a single letter, not just the content, just for their favorite idolsā¦
So thatās why Iāve really been thinking about, imagining all the ways that everyone could have tackled the issue of dealing with this letter.
Eichi: I see. If you were thinking about how the charms and quirks of each letter were coming out, then that must have been due to Shiratori-kunās teachings.
Iām sure that there was nothing you could do but smile at what was in that letter.
Hiiro: It's only natural that Iām happy with whatās written there. How can people compose all these words that make us so happy like that?
Eichi: It is because you and IāWe are the idols they love. Love makes the source of their words.
ā¦By the way, what sort of things did they say?
Hiiro: Hm, letās seeā¦
Well, since we are a unit that just started this summer, it seems that many of our fans are new.
Thereās a couple that Iām reading now that have along the lines of, āThis is my first time writing to you.ā
Thereās also a lot ofā¦āIām so happy I could meet you,ā and āIām happy I can support you in the future,ā things like that.
Eichi: Fufu. Well, I guess there are some fans whose first favorites were Alkaloid.
Hiiro: Thatās right! We got a lot of letters like that, too āŖ
I am honored that there are people that are getting into idols for the first time after learning about Alkaloid and I, but somehow, I feel a bit ashamed.
Eichi: Please donāt be embarrassed, be proud of yourself. Thatās also the duty of an idol, after all āŖ
ā¦Well then. In regards to the fans who met and liked you. Hiiro-kun, what will you do now?
Hiiro: No matter what I am asked to do, thereās probably only so much I can do for my fans now, isn't there?
First of all, I think that in order to keep showing that I am an idol, I have no choice but to work very hard at grappling with idol activities butā¦
Eichi: Hiiro-kun, how do you wish to meet the expectations of your fans?
Hiiro: I suppose it depends on what those expectations are. I probably wonāt be able to grant everyoneās wishes, but I want to do my best to make it happen.
Eichi: And Hiiro-kun, how do you plan to listen to your fansā opinions?
Hiiro: Opinions? Are opinions not the same as the expectations we were just talking about?
Eichi: It doesnāt matter how you interpret it. As long as I can hear your thoughts, Hiiro-kun.
Hiiro: Itās a problem if you say it doesnāt matter. If you donāt properly understand the meaning of the question, you cannot be correct. Iāll give the wrong answer.
When youāre referring to the fansā opinion, you mean that they are requesting for me to do something, right, Tenshouin-senpai?
Eichi: I wonder.
Hiiro: ā¦Hmm. Iām sorry, but I have no idea what youāre trying to ask me then, Tenshouin-senpai.
Youāre not even making judgements on my answers, just asking a line of rapid-fire questionsā¦
āJust what are you trying to get out of me, Tenshouin-senpai?
Eichi: Oh. Youāre naturally on guard, arenāt you?
I want to pull information from you, or rather, I want to draw it out. Iām not lying when I say I want to listen to you.
Hiiro: However, since nothing worthy of your ācorrect answerā came out of my mouth, you changed your question several times, didn't you?
How would you like me to answer, then? If you have an ideal way for me to act, please tell me.
I will work as hard as you expect me to work, Tenshouin-senpai, and I will also devote myself to fulfill your hopes and ideals.
Eichi: Youāre quite blunt. In my opinion, itās rather soldier-like of you to follow orders from above āŖ
Hiiro: ā¦Soldier.
Eichi: It's easy to forget when you have a miraculous being like Trickstar in your office, but oneās subordinates are supposed to balance that dimension as well.
But thereās a problem if youāre just obedient all the time. Even if we use generalizations, what is considered a superior subordinate is one who is willing to work on his own initiative and can produce results.
Hiiro: ā¦ā¦
Eichi: At this ES, you are the number one specimen in a mass production experiment to figure out how to get idols who āshine with a certain level of brilliance.ā
After all, itās been some time since you at Alkaloid have been born.
Starting out only using the ES system, in fact, you all have done much more than we expected, really producing results.
I donāt think itās an exaggeration to say that Alkaloid was the protagonist of the summer.
Hiiro: ā¦Yes, thank you.
Eichi: Youāre very welcome āŖ
āBut summer has already passed. Now that we greet autumn, I want you to gradually change and evolve as well.
I would like to see you break free of your one-summer status, and have a more radiant existence.
Hiiro: But is that what you want, Tenshouin-senpai? Should I work hard to make this desire come true?
Eichi: What happens next is something you have to figure out on your own.
āWhat is an idol?
I don't know who can give you the answer to that question. You, too, have accumulated knowledge and wisdom through your various experiences, right?
If only the soldierās head was better than just for wearing a helmet. Think more about what you have to do.
I wonder if itās about listening to what I have to say. Or perhaps sometimes, do you disobey a command and still grasp onto something?
What exactly should you do now? What kind of thing do you need to demonstrate, I wonder?
With that head of yours, please think a lot, a lot. For your own sake, and for Alkaloidās āŖ
Hiiro: āāI found Mayoi-senpai in the hallway earlier and we both came to the office together.
I didn't have any business there, but it was nice to hear from one of the staff!
Mayoi: They told us about the response from the interview and the fan letters we received as Alkaloid.
Aira: Fan letters, huh? People are so quick to react, we may have already gotten impressions about R2 the other day, right?
Tatsumi: Some of them write letters for every live we perform atā¦Iām very grateful.
Hiiro: We got a lot of fan letters after Feather Touch, as well.
I read all of them carefully, and I could tell that everyone had various impressions of our performance.
Mayoi: They also wrote passionately about looking forward to the next show in their letters to usā¦
It makes me feel good thinking about the next time we are to go up on stage.
Aira: I got it~ ācause thereās a bunch of people coming to see us, I feel overwhelmed thinking about how I have to give it my all next time!
I understand the feeling of wanting to follow your favorite idol, so I get the feeling of them saying, āIāll definitely have to go see the next show, too!ā
Tatsumi: We are more than happy to be able to receive the thoughts and feelings of our fans, not just on stage.
I would like to continue to perform lives so that more people can see Alkaloid on stage.
Hiiro: ā¦I see, maybe I should have told you all that I wanted to do another live.
Tatsumi: ? What are you talking about?
Hiiro: I was asked by a staff member at the office earlier. He asked me if there was any work Iād like to do in the future with Alkaloid.
That somehow didnāt come to mind immediately. Only now did I realize that it would have been okay if I just said that I wanted to do a live.
Mayoi: Me too, I just had the same thoughtā¦
Besides. I feel that it is presumptuous of me to say that I want to do this or that.
Aira: We are new idols. I wonder if it would be seen as egoistical to express our wishes.
Setting aside what the staff's intention was in asking this question, itās a good idea to think of something in case you are asked the same question in the future.
Tatsumi: Thanks to Anzu-sanās participation in planning Feather Touchā
And based on the wonderful proposal that Aira-san had cooked up, we were able to achieve the highest attendance ever for a single performance of Alkaloidās.
Anzu's production was a big factor, but I believe that Feather Touch would not have been possible without the ideals that Aira-san had envisioned.
Aira: It wasnāt any grand ideals or anything, I was just delusional, you knowā¦?
Mayoi: Your cheeks are turning red, Aira-san. Quite red like an appleā¦āŖ
Hiiro: Fufu, I wonder if heās being shy.
Aira: Well, Iām shy, too, but Iām just embarrassed remembering that Tastsun-senpai saw my secret files.
Tatsumi: It made me happy that I was able to peek into Aira-sanās dreamā¦Although it may be a bit cursed to say thatā¦
Anyway. It would be a good idea for us to think of something in preparation for when we are called upon again.
For example, if it ends up being a project, youāll already have experience developing project concepts.
Hiiro: Yes. We still have such little experience in everything soā¦Thatās exactly why every little thing is such a big source of nourishment for us.
Coming up with a plan isnāt easy, but the more experience we gain, the stronger we will be, right?
Mayoi: Idol work is very broad, though. Itās not just livesāThereās also events, and TV programs, and things like that to consider.
ā¦Though I say that, I'm not very good at thinking up ideas for projects, so I haven't come up with anything yet butā¦
Aira: Yeah? I never really wanted to do an event or a TV program with Alkaloid, so I guess I never really imagined it, huh.
At best, I could say that "Iād want to be on that TV show" sometime?
I feel like I'm always fantasizing about doing this or that sort of live or standing on this and that sort of stage.
Tatsumi: Aira-san, did you perhaps create your project concepts by writing down your feelings of when you do want to ādo itā?
Letās start with that, too. The way you want to see Alkaloid, the things you want to do. That sort of thing can come out of your mouth at any time.
āWell then, letās start with you, Mayoi-san.
Mayoi: Hiyah, a Hail Mary pass with a smile!?[1]
Tatsumi: I want to sing a lot of songs, I want to have lives in a huge placeā¦Etcetera. Anything would be splendid.
Mayoi: I-I⦠Erm, uhhh
Aira: (in a small voice) Hiro-kun, have you come up with anything yet?
Hiiro: (in a small voice) No, not yet. When I think about what work I want to do with Alkaloid, I just end up wondering to myself what kind of thing I want to do.
(Things like going to lives and getting interviewed for magazines. Getting my picture taken, being requested to chat with.)
(The hard work that I do everyday as an idolāAll of it is worthwhile and fulfilling.)
(If thereās anything I really want to do itāsā¦)
Hiiro: Hmā¦
Aira: Whatās up? Did you find something you want to do?
Hiiro: Yeah. Maybe itās that I want to do all sorts of things with everyone in Alkaloid.
Aira: Ahaha. But you've been asking what kind of stuff to do with the unit, so that's kinda obvious.
Hiiro: Fufuā¦Maybe thatās right.
Mayoi actually said āKiller Passā which is a similar thing, but in soccer.
