I feel like people who don't give Arcane a shot because it's 'League of Legends' are missing out for a few reasons:
Genuine peak storytelling at basically all levels of the medium: the writing, voice acting, music, animation, colour and sound design... season 1 namely is a master-class for anyone who is a storyteller.
There are a few blunders, namely fridging a female side character, but overall? Arcane season 1 is again a master class on how you can write diversity across a wide spectrum and also eith nodding to influences from real world cultures that don't demonize or fetishize. (I will say I am open to being corrected on this, I do not claim to have first hand knowledge of all the cultures).
Particularly for these two points I recommend the YouTube channel Schnee. He has videos on things like how Arcane writes masculinity which HO BOY I wish more media would take note of.
Regarding League in particular, look I got back into league but how do I explain it simply other than saying: I returned to the world of Runeterra because they have more games and spaces that aren't toxic and the way you avoid toxicity is *the block button is free*. There's comics, books, an interactive map, an active community for their games like TFT, Legends of Runeterra, Riftbound, and lore specific channels like Necrit and Skyren.
I'm genuinely excited for the future of Runeterra. And I so so so look forward to more people coming from Arcane finding gems like Varus/Kai/Valmar, Nami and her polycule, Diana/Leona, Taliyah who is trans, and Aurora who is autistic. LET ALONE the multiverses like Space Odyssey with Jinx or Star Guardians for fans of magical girl anime.
Or that, literally on the wiki as stated, character sexualities are consistent throughout all multiverses, but not necessarily relationships.
... so idk if people are aware Ekko is Bi xD
