there's a 90s br soap opera about a prostitute who falls in love with a "saint", it's based on a real person but very romanticized and happens between 50s-60s brazil right before the dictatorship started so there's A LOT of political commentary on

anyways my idea was panchito x zé (yknow. bramex) but on brazil 30s. HOWEVER i didn't want to write shit and i was researching a lot of topics before writing bc ww2, good neighbor policy, mexican revolution, la guerra cristera, racism xenophobia and queerphobia on brazil 30s, br black community, br queer community, afro-brazilian religions, us navy (i remembered mf donald is a ww2 veteran halfway through the plot 😭)

also, sensibility to write a gay racialized couple on 30s brazil instead of a straight white couple on 50s-60s brazil (the soap opera's)

I think it is admirable how you do all this research and are so passionate about learning and representing an accurate description of the environment for the story dsadjsa it is so amazing and cool, you're so damn cool cariño~!

Is Zé José Carioca? dskkakl guessing he is, but yeah I've always liked him and Panchito so so much and tbh the setting of Brazil in the 30s really sounds so cool exactly because of the political commentary of it. I mean I'm sure you got the sensibility and race part covered sdjajd

yep, zé is a nickname for josé in brazil. in mexico it's pepe right? it was fun learning pancho/panchito is for francisco, here we nickname them "chico" :) and YES their movies are so good and so well animated, they three are really good together. thanks but im still very insecure abt this wip 😭

Zé is WAY cuter than Pepe if you ask me sjsjjd I also like Chico but have a soft spot in my heart for Pancho/Panchito. Donald was funny but he was the comic relief and the cockblock, if he hadn't appeared, it would have been a gay romance movie 🤣😭😭
