Happy Birthday Mum, a little verse I wrote a couple weeks back. 10 years on & still going strong. They say time flies when your having a blast, but I’ve had no tango, times passed faster then horses in the national, my minds deep & still thinks rational. I’d love to step back from all the suffering & watching my life on film but it’s so stop start I’ll call it buffering. Life’s been on pause while I get my head strong, there’s a few things I’ve probably done wrong but it’s all part of the game, part of the shame but now I’m on tracks like Thomas & me pushing forward in life is a promise. Damn, 4 years today since you passed. Time flies when your having....oh wait, it’s been anything but fun. Just not being able to ask you about the little things I’m struggling with, bits of advice & general father/son bonding like we used to go to the pub on a Monday night after I was home from school & you was back from work. Watching the football & playing darts there (you never could beat me much) but you always told me to be the best I can & recent years I haven’t done that, I feel I’ve let you down hugely & that hurts me knowing you’d be upset. For that I ask for forgiveness & I make it a promise to you that I’ll prove myself to you it may take weeks, months or even possibly years but I’ve now realised where I want to be with my life & I’m going to make sure I get there. From start to finish, today’s been an incredible day. Cheap train ticket & a few quid for a cheap bite to eat. Saw some wonderful sites, with some lovely people & even learnt a thing or two! Sometimes it’s just nice to sit in peace & quiet on my own (does this mean I’m lonely?) probably but I’m happy with my own company, it gives time to reflect on things. Missing loved ones that are no longer with me/us. Also those people who you think care but actually don’t. It’s simple really & I’ll leave with this ‘some people can’t function without negativity because bringing down others makes them happy’ 👌🏼
