tumblr tuesday: music made art
Ask not what you can do for your fandom but what your fandom can do for you. So whatās good in the world of music-themed art this month? Well, youāve got vintage vibes, Lorde lyrics, and some love for Louis Tomlinson.
@eisenbernardāā mashes high and low brow together, resulting in classic book covers of Madonna songs or this delightfully bourgeois ensemble. Think of it as Fearless (Vittorioās version):
@albums-big-in-japanĀ celebrates the aesthetics of yesteryear in Japanese releases of popular music from the West, resulting in an impressive archive of questionable hair and outfit choices. Not so Stevie Wonder, who apparently just came off the USS Enterprise looking like the king that he is:
@morepeachyogurtā has a flair for curating ~v i b e s~ perfectly encapsulated in her āSolar Powerā fanart:
AndĀ @projectotbĀ has been celebrating LGBTQIA+ Louies with Pride-themed fan art around his song āOnly The Braveāāenter this lovely little number by @thetriangletattooā:

Natureās Dystopian Nature CharlieDavoli
In the words of the artist Charlie Davoli:
āI made this photo project by producing a series of imaginary pictures in which human beings are distractedly immersed in a reality that is likely to be possible, where the symbols of the modern civilization are inevitably swallowed by the spontaneous vegetation.ā

Interpreting Ideas into Design
From abstract to design, concept and ideas.
SPACE/ LOCATION/ PROTAGONIST/ OCCUPATION
With these we are able to come up with a ā3 Word Strategyā, and then with a sketch model, which embodies the one, or even all, to describe the space we want to achieve. Then we get into a reflection phase, on the word(s), and start with being purposeful, on how it can be useful on the space and/or occupation, then reflect on our previous findings, such as context of the site (how it looks like, itās surroundings and who passes by).Ā
FUNCTIONALITIESĀ
CIRCULATION - term to describe the way we want people/visitors, or even the protagonist, to walk around the space, e.g.: where to walk through first, what draws the eye first, how they use the space. (moving through and around) Using different materials is a good way to define main focal points for the public eyes.
TOUCHPOINTS - key places in the space, where an intersection happens. (distinguish, materiality, lighting, triggers) Something that triggers/ influences the public use of the space.Ā
LIGHT AND SHADOWS - the creation of a mood for the pace, also influences the public opinions and use of the space, wether they find it warm, welcoming, or cold. (highlighting, presenting, concealing, revealing) The feeling of being on display, e.g.: A certain focal point, where we donāt want the public to focus on, we can use spotlights, with minimus light, that create a sense of darkness, and coldness.Ā
THRESHOLD - sense of arrival (can be hidden/exposed, transparent, permeable, extend, secure, measured).

ID1 BEGINNINGS: PART 2
WEEK 9Ā
This week I mainly focused on editing and putting together my bound book as well as both of my A2 Sheets. The A2 sheets felt harder than expected and the bound book turned out ti be pretty enjoyable, which I was not expecting.
From selecting drawings, to editing them and then organising into the InDesign pages, then choosing the type of paper to print them on, and finally the design of the bound book, all these steps felt very comfortable and gave me a sense of responsibility, as I came up with a small book that has my drawings of this very first project. So it felt very comforting.Ā
CHOOSE 3 WORDS THAT DESCRIBE YOUR CONCEPT
⢠These should be spatial verbs (as mentioned in the Language lecture) or adjectives
⢠Use a thesaurus if necessary but only use plain language that everyone understands
⢠Make sure the words you choose are meaningful to yours paceĀ
For my Space I came up with OPEN, CIRCULATE, and CONNECT.Ā

WEEK 8
Drawing in sectionĀ
ID1 BEGINNINGS: PART 2
WEEK 8
Drawing sections and plans, was a hard step. It was difficult to come up with a floor plan especially with all the right measurements, and also making it all fit into a 3x3 space. Drawing a section, felt even harder, as sections are only parts of the space viewed by the side, and determined by an imaginary line/cut.Ā
ID1 BEGINNINGS: PART 2
WEEK 8
Throughout this week, I was mainly focused on developing my idea of the human wheel, by doing a lot of research on precedents, as well as how tall would a wheel need to be to fit a person, how would it be to guarantee safety measures, would a platform be needed, if yes how tall or large would it need to be, and how much of the space would it occupy.
Many questions that were answered and some still unanswered, but I needed to make progress on the project. I felt that the idea and concept was all there but I also had Ā to come up with my floor plan, and section drawings to start creating visuals. So for that I started trying out different plans in my head, and on paper seeing what or how it works, not only in plan but also for the person in the space. By measuring objects, such as chairs, tables, shelves and stairs steps, I got a 1:20 floor plan, with the standard measurements of these objects I would be including in my space.Ā
ID1 BEGINNINGS: PART 2
WEEK 8
My main concept was a memorial at first, since I wanted to showcase the importance of African women in the world society. I came up with different ideas/shapes for the memorial in a 3x3 space/plan, such as a cylinder, hanging rings, a tunnel or even a hamster wheel. I was mainly looking at circular shapes as I had a few ideas on how to showcase the information about the protagonist.
I wanted to be a journey that people would take as they step into the space, that way not only the protagonist journey is displayed but it also interacts with people visiting the space . In the end I chose to do the āhamster wheelā, more like a human wheel. This wheel would be a way of displaying information, as well as interact with the visitor.Ā Ā
ID1 BEGINNINGS: PART 2
WEEK 7
For my protagonist, I decided to go for The African Woman. As I believe these, are under appreciated and under represented in the media, and have come a long journey.Ā
I would like to see the growth of this community grow into the world, be known for the bravery. Although many are unknown to the world, I would like to give them a space to showcase their journey from years back till now, the challenges of back in the day to nowadays, that no one knows or even talks about, and how they dealt with those.Ā
I want to give the women of the past and of the present the voice they were never given by their men, by their continent, and by the world.Ā
But it is not as easy at it seems, although Iām very passionate and ambitious over this topic, I had to be realistic in the way I portray these women, because although they are all women and come from the same Continent, they are still from very different communities within Africa and with different brought up. Therefore, I chose to focus on Uganda Women, Uganda being one of the main countries where tribes still exist and work very much like decades ago when they first started. The main topic would be the womenās roles in tribes, from back then to now.Ā

I write about African women, that's really my topic. I have no shame or qualm in it because it's a very underrepresented topic, which is part of the reason I started to write.

ID1 BEGINNINGS: PART 2
WEEK 7Ā
The first task for this part of the project was to find, or come up with a protagonist. For this we were shown a few examples of what we should include in the description of the protagonist, as they are the main inspiration for a space to work and the ones that make the space. For the description of the protagonist we needed to include, age, occupation, likes and dislikes, his/her lifestyle, needs, etc; anything really that might help us in the future coming up with the design for the space.Ā
We were given a couple of hours to decide which path we would take on this, because of the little time we had, choosing or making a decision was quite hard and in the end I didnāt use my initial protagonist as it didnāt seem helpful towards the rest of my project concept.
