one is the other’s reincarnation. time travelling and / or universe hopping happens—whether or not both muses recognise the other is entirely up to the player.

one is rich by birth and lives in the middle of a ton of etiquette rules and scrutiny and one is not and they look pretty damn alike and they start switching places a lá the prince(ss) and the pauper when one wants to escape all the rules and the other wouldn’t mind a bit of pampering.  ( royalty optional but chef’s recommendation )

on a similar note, one is a person of importance who has cause to fear for their life and the other is their bodyguard chosen specifically bc of their physical resemblance and who has spent their life learning to mimic the other and at times when the v.i.p.’s safety can’t be ensured the bodyguard dresses up as the important person and the important person pretends to be the bodyguard so any attempt at harm will be directed at the bodyguard.

something that’s particularly fun for times when two portrayals of the same muse use similar-looking but definitely different live-action faceclaims: one is a well-paid hollywood actor and the other is their stunt double.

iron mask-esque au, aka they’re twins and in line for the throne and the sitting monarch has seen not only families but countries torn apart by siblings at war with each other over the right to rule so to prevent the unrest and the chance of siblings trying to stab one another  ( but also unable to murder their own baby ), they pretend one died during labour and keep them hidden so no one can see their face, and unaware of their identity. face mask and jailtime optional.

if one of the muses is that kind of a person, you can also have the monarch die when the heirs are still young and have one of the twins do the jailing thing.

bonus points if it’s not the one actually in line for the throne but one happy pretend their name is [the real monarch] and either that their sibling ran away in jealousy or out of love, or that there was only ever one successor if the family has kept everything very private so the non-rightful heir wouldn’t be manipulated by any adult to try to overthrow their sibling, not considering they may get the idea on their own.

two assistants of a magician for a teleportation trick that needs a set of similar-looking and similarly styled people  ( or a set of twins ). one may be the magician’s assistant all the time, and the other just here for the money, or they’re both here just for the opening trick of the show. a nationwide tour on which you need to be on stage for like 5 minutes is a fun place to bond, especially when you can’t exactly roam around the premises or you’ll ruin the magic, and especially when this thing is the only thing you two have in common at the start.
