hello friends and WELCOME to the have a nace day discord's very special valentine’s day fanworks event.

as the door closes on secret sleuth for the year, we're eager to keep those fires burning and the creative juices flowing. so, we're proposing a 3-day fanwork bonanza over 13-15 february to celebrate our spooky little romantic show.

💖 what: a fanworks challenge for the nancy drew (cw) fandom. you have one month to create something (like a fic or gifset) ready for valentine's day. ideally it should be on theme (eg, romance!) but it's up to you how heavy you lean into that.

📅 when: you have 4 weeks starting now to create your fanwork. it should be posted over 13-15 february 2024.

🕵️‍♀️ who: anyone who loves nancy drew cw can get involved! and your works don't have to be nace-focused. they can be about other ships on the show too.

📍 where: you can post your works wherever you'd like! whether it's tumblr, ao3, twitter, etc. just make sure to tag us here if you're posting on tumblr.

✨ minimum requirements: there are no rules, just right. make your fic, gifset, video etc. as big or little as you'd like.

Not only has Ace brought marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate - including a couple of peanut butter cups that he'd told her, rightly, would absolutely blow her mind when used in place of the chocolate bar - but he's also promised her another surprise.

They're sitting on a log by the fire, knees pressed together as she slowly rotates her fourth or fifth marshmallow (she's lost count) on one of the sticks he'd gathered from the dark woods around them. Nancy isn't sure how late it is at this point, but it has to be way past midnight because the crowd has thinned considerably.

"How are you feeling, Nance," Ace asks quietly, for her ears only.

"Good," she smiles over at him. "Happy. I miss her, but having you here... it helps." A smile crosses his face, happy and uncomplicated, and some part of Nancy registers how lucky she is to be treated to one of those.

"You should smile more," she says, the words slipping out of her mouth before she can stop them. Ace raises an eyebrow at her, and she sputters in reply. "Not like that! I didn't mean- I just meant that you have a really lovely smile." She sighs and grins sheepishly.

Ace laughs and reaches up to brush a strand of her hair from her face, tucking it safely behind her ear. Her eyes widen in surprise and her pulse is pounding faster as she finds herself leaning into his touch in a way that's just a little more than casual.

“Right. Yeah. I should explain. Scoop is doing this thing where they let couples get free sundaes on Tuesday nights all month. Guess they’re banking on somebody shelling out the thirty bucks for a t-shirt once they’re in the door. What do you say? Undercover mission?”

Nancy’s pause is massive. “Toni kind of hates me.”

“That’s… not a no?” Ace says hopefully. “You’re a Cow-a-bubble fan, right? Which honestly concerns me. Can’t imagine that’s good for your gut flora.”

“I will do it,” Nancy replies, “if you promise never to talk about my gut flora again.”
