When the man told him that he should leave, Nik stood up and shook his head. “I had just hoped for a more enthusiastic response. It’s my fault for expecting too much. I should have figured that old blood would be better. I haven’t seen you in decades, Lysander. Stay with me. Please? You’ve kept yourself up to date with my life, which surprises me. And yet, I haven’t done the same. For that, I’m sorry. This past decade alone has been hectic. You could never ruin a friendship that spans more than ten centuries.” He sighed. “Why I ever try to hide anything from you, I’ll never know. I’m a stubborn man, you know this. You’re one of my oldest friends, so please… Stay with me. You know why I’ve always tried my damnedest to keep you close, Lysander. Don’t pretend that you don’t. You know why I’ve always stuck by your side, every battle we fought and every war we won. So just stay. And tell me… When did you know?”
Sapphire hues watched as the other man rose to his feet - one of the rare times someone stood above him was when he was sitting and they were standing - and he looked up at the other blond as he spoke. Of course, Lysander had far more selfish reasons to keep up to date with the other’s life - he was a council member, and Lysander was one that often kept up-to-date with their on-goings to see who would benefit him and who wouldn’t. He waited until the other finished with his speech before he rose to his feet, massive frame dwarfing the smaller blond as he stared down at him, and he bridged the gap until there was only about two feet between them. “Truthfully? As soon as we met,” Lysander stated coolly, smirk teasing his lips. “It’s hard to keep one’s desire a secret from an Alpha.” With that, he pressed his lips to Niklaus’ in a searing kiss, lifting the younger vampire up so that his legs were at the appropriate height to wrap around his waist.
