Like you asked, Shinso and Monoma? I've simply started to love this ship-
i present to you. the aftermath of monoma almost fucking exploding and dying as per usual.
cw: swearing, shinsou crying, mild existential crisis (what's new), monoma is more emotionally literate than shinsou
âhiiâmhereformonomaneito.â
the nurse at the front desk blanks, before awkwardly nodding, clearing their throat. âmr. monoma is in room 215, down the hall and to the right. but visitor hours end in a few hours, so watch the time, got it?"
shinsou nods stiffly, before speedwalking down the hall.
â201âŠ203âŠ205âŠshit, what fucking genius made this hallway fucking 500 miles long?â
before he even sees the number 215, he can hear muffled chatter from a room on the right side of the hallwayâundoubtedly the voices of his little sister and his father.
there they areâthree of the most important people in his life, in one room. his baby sister, sweet eri, in tears, next to his father, aizawa, and in the hospital bedâŠneito monoma.
without the restraint to curb his language in front of his sister, shinsou rushes to monomaâs side.
âare you fucking stupid? what the hell is wrong with you?â
as aizawa and eri quietly leave the room (aizawaâs hands over eriâs ears), monoma grins.
âwhat, a class A lackey, worried for me? have you finally gone soft on meâACK!â
shinsouâs arms are suddenly wrapped around monomaâs neck, and the blond falters when he feels his neck wet with tears.
ââtoshi, hey, look at me.â
with a wet sniffle, shinsou slowly raises his head.
monoma grins softly. âyou know, you were the only one i was thinking of on that battlefield?â
the purple haired boy huffs, wiping his tears, his voice shaky.
âactually, i hate you and want you to die--â
shinsou freezes, feeling monomaâs lips on his, the blondâs voice soft.
âyou wanna try that again?â
shinsou groans, pulling away, trying his hardest to hide the reddish flush to his pale cheeks.
âweâre not doing this in a hospital, and especially not your bed. have some decorum.â
monoma grins, raising an eyebrow.
âsince when did you care about decorum, mr. eyebags?â
shinsou shakes his head, cupping monomaâs face in his hands.
âiâm serious, neito. what were you thinking, jumping into the line of fire like that? what the hell would you have done if uraraka werenât there to float you away? what if she didnât make it in time, huh? what were you planning on doing then?â
monomaâs once teasing expression sobers into something dangerously tender.Â
âi wasnât thinking about whatever was happening on that battlefield, toshi. all i was thinking about was you.â
shinsou shakes his head, his eyes narrowed, trying to hold back his tears. he opens his mouth, but no words come out. monoma simply looks up at him, uncharacteristically patient as he watches his boyfriend struggle through conflicting emotion, until, finally, the purple haired boyâs soft, hesitant voice breaks the silence.
â...am i worthâŠthat?â
this time, itâs monoma that freezes, his mind suddenly buffering.
finally, he shakes his head.
âbaby, what do you mean, âworthâ?â
shinsou groans, his face falling into his hands.
âi mean⊠like⊠thinking about me like that. you were so⊠occupied with thinking about me, that you almostâŠâ he shrinks further into himself, his voice faltering. â...you almost died, neito.â
after a beat of silence, neito sighs, before lifting his arms, gently draping them over shinsouâs shoulders.
âyou donât⊠have to understand it, toshi.â
shinsou tentatively peeks out from between his fingers.
monoma lets a fond smile appear on his face, kissing shinsouâs head.
âi donât think you have to understand it all now, toshi. i donât think either of us have to understand it all now.â
slowly, shinsou unravels himself, letting monoma take his hands away from his face, the two intertwining their fingers, the both of them leaning into each other until their foreheads gently bump.
âiâm alive; weâre safe. letâs just⊠let time pass for now. and if you want to, we can talk about this when you're calmer.â
nodding, shinsou takes a deep, shaky breath, slumping into monoma's arms, surrendering to the emotional rollercoaster, and the exhaustion that comes afterwards.
