Almond poppyseed muffins from chelsweets online. My son has always loved almond poppyseed muffins since we lived in SoCal years ago. Hard to find on the east coast. The recipe called for sugar on top which I skipped. Sweet enough.
These almond poppy seed muffins are tender, moist, and the perfect way to start any day! They're easy to make and will be gone in a flash!
Lemon poppyseed muffins made with yogurt, lemon zest, fresh lemon juice. From cremedelacrumb.com. Had to bake longer than the recipe said. Everyone loved them
Visiting Will and Elizabeth. After dinner had a hankering for something sweet. Everyone, including roommates Monica and Jacob, agreed on brownies. No white sugar in the house so used light brown sugar. Otherwise followed the same family recipe that I’ve posted before. Very ooey and gooey. Shown on a Rachel Kozlowski Christmas Plate from West Elm.
So what do you do on a rainy day? Roast vegetables. Yesterday the high was 84F today 55F. The house smells good.

George finished the last batch of ginger snaps so made a different recipe. These are from my Grandma Lucy’s cookbook. Very simple and quick. Shown on a polka dot cake stand.
Bob and Martha wanted cookies. I couldn’t bring myself to make the same oatmeal raisin recipe again. Instead I used my grandma’s oatmeal raisin cookies. I just dropped them - instead of rolling and cutting into slices.
George started buying ginger snaps at the store. So had to make him some cookies. I used the recipe on the inside of the crystallized ginger. Pretty yummy.
Chewy oatmeal cookies packed with walnuts and chocolate chips are easy to make, and your family will love the combination of flavors.
Made for a bake sale. Just showing one here!
Made grandma’s brownies. Double batch to fit in the brownie edge pan. Donated for a bake sale.

Made a batch of my Grandmother’s Molasses Cookies. I doubled the spice and didn’t use any corn syrup. I’ve posted the recipe before. Shown on a lovely oval plate. I used my bird cookie cutters. George did all the rolling.
On a cold winter day, you can’t beat a baked macaroni and cheese. Not gluten free but probably could be modified. I have the recipe from a cookbook by Marlena Spieler. But I found on line as well. I’m making for a family with kids so I used mild cheddar and mild blue cheese. I never knew blue cheese could be mild.
12 ounces large elbow macaroni, farfalle (bowtie pasta) or conchiglie (shells) 6 tablespoons unsalted butter or 3 tablespoons butter plus
Last week I made chocolate chip cookies with regular size chocolate chips. This week somehow mini chips ended up my shopping cart. So I downsized the cookies. Still taste yummy and giving to friends with kids.
Another mocktail for dry January. Paloma! Contains grapefruit juice, grapefruit seltzer, lime juice, and simple syrup. Same webpage as yesterday’s mocktail.
George and I are doing a dry January. This week we thought maybe mocktails would help us get through. George made this fabulous Matcha Sour.

My latest bake is old fashioned peanut butter cookies. They are great with milk or a warm beverage. It’s always fun to put in the cross hatches with a fork. Found memories of baking with my grandma.
Made my grandmother’s chocolate chip cookie recipe. It’s a little different from toll house. Notice the dissolve baking soda in hot water. I wonder if baking soda was too hard to mix well. George really likes them. They are shown on my newest plate addition. I got the blue ceramic plate from my Secret Santa this year from Berkley, California.
