Thank you so much anon!! We did our best, but we genuinely weren't comfortable running with the low writer ratio, and we decided it was better to cancel now than later in the event. Additionally, our underage mods will not moderate any dark/nsfw fics, for everyone's safety. Participants who attempt to make underage mods interact with dark/nsfw fics will receive a strike.

In considering who would and would not be allowed to write dark/NSFW content, we carefully considered our decision for a long time. In the end, we chose to take into consideration similar events across a wide variety of fandoms and follow their lead. We looked at a wide variety of big bangs, zines, and prompt weeks across numerous fandoms when making our decision, as we wanted to be sure we were choosing based on a wide variety of sources.

This led to our decision that those 16+ would be allowed to create NSFW content, again only in teams with other 16-17 year olds. Such fics are carefully moderated, as well as the team members themselves.

We would also like to take this time to reiterate that the event as a whole will remain SFW, and any dark/NSFW content is strictly relegated to specific channels in the discord. We will also ensure any such fics are placed in a separate section of the claiming doc, although we do not foresee there being a large demand for such fics. Hey! You’re right, this event was partially done before with @crystalinastar as a mod, and some of the current mods as participants. In order to help ensure this bang will get going this time around, we’ve vastly expanded our promo, and are already seeing a lot higher interest. 

In addition, half of the current mod team has run multiple other big bangs in the past that have run successfully, and we’re planning on how to manage even if we do have slightly lower sign up numbers than we would like. Overall, it seems like there’s currently much more interest in Marvel, perhaps due to Disney+ releasing so many new shows, and this has shown an increase in the comics fandom as well that we are running off of.

Hello I’m Will! I am once again carefully poking my toe into the Marvel fandom and seeing how it goes. I can usually be spotted in my natural habitat avoiding chaos, rewatching Star Trek, and writing a frightening amount. I’m absolutely thrilled to be here and be running this event 💕🤍💙

How and when did you get into Marvel Comics?

I’ve mostly gotten involved in Marvel through osmosis, my friends, and X-Men cartoons. After I exhausted X-Men cartoons a couple years ago I branched out to Avengers cartoons which I have feelings about. I think I binge-watched all the cartoons in like a week which was loads of fun but I ran out of content pretty quick. I mostly stay invested and explore other corners of the fandom through my friends who are invested in a greater range of characters than I am

My fave characters are Loki and Rhodey for personal reasons and those personal reasons are queer

Character you most relate to

I relate most to Sam Wilson because birds make lovely company 🐦

Hey, I’m Joey/Orpheus! I kinda dip in and out of fandoms a lot but Marvel’s one of the longest fandoms I’ve been in (over a decade). Whether it’s comics, films, cartoons, games etc, it’s always something I’ve actively engaged with!! I’ve never modded an event before so I’m pretty excited for how this turns out!

How and when did you get into Marvel Comics?

Probably around seven or eight-ish? I remember owning a small metal Scarlet Witch statue as a kid. My dad and my brothers were pretty into Marvel and that kinda trickled down to me. The first comics I distinctly remember owning is the main six issues for Civil War when I was eleven!

Favourite character

Oh, without question it’s Gambit and Polaris. Remy is a character I’ve loved since I first watched X-Men: Evolution as a kid and that love has just blossomed over the years. I think he’s pretty neat! Plus, thief is my go-to class in every fantasy game so how could I not love him? I think I came across Lorna for the first time in House of M and I just found her really interesting!

Character you most relate to

Okay, so this is definitely an Edgy option. Whilst I project onto Lorna constantly, it’s probably Lionheart/Kelsey Leigh that I relate to the most. I first found her through a Marvel database subscription service I used to be part of it, and I relate to a lot of parts of her story even if it’s pretty dark at times. She’s a v cool character tho!!

hi, i’m crys, comic brainrot all around! i read at least ten comics per week from both marvel and dc because i have the range <3 generally thrilled to run this event!!!

How and when did you get into Marvel Comics?

i actually started reading marvel comics several months ago, but i really got into them around december, like, reading through 40+ comics in a day at one point. as for how? i latched onto a few characters and it’s been downhill ever since.

my favorite character… oh man, it’s hard, it’s still david alleyne i think, i’ve read through his appearances and i love him so much. currently on a nadia van dyne binge tho, i adore her endless optimism and hope!!

xi’an coy manh xuan kieu manh aka karma!!! it’s about the viet lesbian of it all, she means so much to me in terms of rep?? plus, even though i’ve only read partway through her appearances so far, i relate to the willingness to be good and do good, and her drive? which sounds cliche, but i really do mean it.

Sup y’all! I’m writing this on a serotonin high from acing a practice exam, so I’m not sure how coherent it’ll be. I’m a big bang veteran and I’m modding another event this summer. I am an unapologetic New Mutants stan and I will never forgive them for that terrible movie.

How and when did you get into Marvel Comics? 

I was an MCU fan for years as a kid, then my childhood best friend lent me some of her comics (which is also how I got into DC.) I didn’t consider myself a fan until my ex pulled me in deep though.

WRITERS, if you are doing an outline for your fic, you must have it finished and submitted to your group today.

July 16th: First Checkpoint

WRITERS should try to have around 750 words for oneshots and 1.4k words for multi-chapter fics.

July 23rd: Second Checkpoint

WRITERS: try to reach 1.5k if you’re doing a one-shot and 2.9k if you’re doing multi-chaptered.

ARTISTS: show your group some sketches, an outline, to let them know how far you’ve gotten and if you need to know anything new.

July 30th: Third Checkpoint 

WRITERS: try to have 2.3k and 4.3k written for one-shots and multi-chaptered fics respectively. 

ARTISTS: you should have a good idea of all the scenes/info. you’re planning to use, start outlining/sketching if you haven’t.

Let the mods know if you feel you’re really behind or are having any issues.

August 6th: Fourth Checkpoint

WRITERS should try to have 3k and 5.8k written (one-shot and multi-chaptered respectively). You should have a good idea of how you want things to end and should be talking with you betas about how to tie everything together.

ARTISTS should have already started their piece and continuing to be in constant contact with your group.

August 13th: Fifth Checkpoint

WRITERS should try to have 3.8k and 7.3k written for one-shot and multi-chaptered respectively. You should continue to be communicating with your team and hashing things out with artists and betas.

ARTISTS, if you’re doing more than one piece try to have one of them pretty much ready so you have time to work on the other. Let your writer know if you need more info than what they’ve given you thus far.

Let the mods know if you feel you’re really behind or are having any issues.

August 20th: Sixth Checkpoint

WRITERS should try to be at 4.5k and 8.8k written for one-shot and multi-chaptered respectively. You should be talking with your betas and artists to make sure everything gets wrapped up on time. 

ARTISTS should be in constant connection with your group. If you are going to add any last minute pieces, now’s the time.

Let the mods know if you feel you’re really behind or are having any issues.

August 27th: Seventh Checkpoint

WRITERS should be at 5.3k and 10.2k written for one-shot and multi-chaptered respectively. This is the final stretch—remember to be in constant communication with your team, and make sure to give your betas enough time to look over what you’ve written.

ARTISTS, you should be very nearly done, if not yet done. You should be working on your finishing touches, and be in constant communication with your team.

September 3rd: Final Checkpoint!

WRITERS, you should be pretty much finished by this point. Use this week to edit and add the finishing touches. ARTISTS, same goes for you.

September 10th: END OF BIG BANG CONTENT CREATION!

What is the Marvel Comics Big Bang?

It’s a collaborative event where writers, betas, and artists are paired up and work on a unique fic/art piece. Our event will be focusing on the Marvel Comic universes.

Are we allowed to use the MCU?

This event is focused on content from the comic universes, such as 616, and so content from the MCU and other cinematic universes would not qualify.

How can I participate?

Sign ups will open on June 1. We will post the application forms here on our tumblr. You can find the general calendar here.

How are applications going to work?

When you sign up, you will be filling out an application form. Mods will do a quick review of your ao3’s/tumblrs/other social media and then send you a dm with an invite link to the discord server once you’ve been approved!

What if I have beta/artists I normally work with?

You can absolutely sign up to work with them! There will be a place in our sign up forms to write down any pre-established arrangements artists/betas may have with a writer! Each writer may put down one pre-established beta or artist.

Are there required platforms for this event?

Every participant will be required to join our Discord server. A Tumblr account will also be required for this event, as this is the only platform where we can send you the invite link to the discord server and reblog content. It’s okay if you make a tumblr just for this event and don’t use it for anything else, but you must have a Tumblr account to participate in this event.           

If I want to participate as a writer, how much do I have to write? 

The minimum word count for oneshots is 6k, and the minimum for multichaps is 11k.

Is there anything I’m not allowed to write?

We are not allowing content glorifying/romanticizing of unhealthy relationships (abuse, pedophilia/age difference where one was a minor, grooming, etc.) In short, we don’t allow fics where abuse is presented in a healthy/idealized/romanticized way. We are also not allowing any x reader fics, RPF (real person fanfic), or incest.

What about crossovers?

Crossovers will be allowed however the main focus will need to be on a Marvel Comics character!

What are the rules for Dark/NSFW content?

NSFW is allowed, but there must be no rape/non con, incest, romanticized abuse, or pedophilia, and it cannot be porn without plot. To write or work on an NSFW fic, you must be at least 16. Any NSFW fics written by minors will only have other minors on the team, and any written by adults will only have adults on the team.

Dark content (i.e. graphic torture, violence, discussions of abuse, suicide, etc) is allowed, but again you must be 16+ to write or work on these fics. Any dark fics written by minors will only have other minors on the team, and any written by adults will only have adults on the team.

NSFW and dark fics will have separate categories in the server, and all discussion of this content must be relegated to those categories, which will be monitored only by the adult mods.

What type of art can I make?

Digital, traditional, playlists, moodboards, podfics, edits, whatever as long as your author approves that! During the claiming process, there will be a space available on the claiming doc to see what types of art each author accepts.

What if I am a minor and feel uncomfortable working with adults, (or I am an adult and feel uncomfortable working with minors)? 

When authors fill out their fic synopsis forms, they will be able to say that their fic is minors only or adults only, as well as any other trigger or content warnings that apply to their fic. When we open claiming, artists and betas will have full access to all of this info, and be able to make their choices from there! 

Where can I see/read the fics/art?
