see, this is probably why vulpes likes his hair buzzed. if he has any hair at all he just looks like needs an oversized band t shirt

I haven't been posting a whole lot because 1) I got depressed once more and things were just. difficult for a while and 2) work has started to really pick up the pace and I simply have not had the bandwidth or the time to work on anything personal like attc. However!!

I've been practicing a whole bunch, experimenting, testing out my brand new cintiq 24 (I was used to doing all my work on 11 inches of screen so 24 is miraculous), and stuff like that. I'm about to get reallllly obnoxious with impasto brushes

in particular I've been trying to improve my anatomy and facial structure skills. tbqh the fact that I wasn't as good at those as I wanted to be kept me from making the comic, cause I just wasn't happy with anything I put down

but now I do actually have the motivation to start working on attc again and finish it out. Here's some sketchin :)

I'm gonna make an effort to post more sketches and unfinished stuff here, I think I've had a hangup about that recently and I wanna get over it

i think the best thing about the whole painting-values-first trick is being able to actually edit what i paint - cause before I'd be too afraid to change anything significant past the sketch/coloring stage. And that screwed with my workflow

that's so sweet of you to say!! Thank you :) I work hard on my art and sometimes I feel less than confident about what I put out, but people seem to be liking it so!!! You shall have more!!!!

Rose is a particularly dear oc to me; I built her primarily for New Vegas elevenish years ago, and nv has stayed my on-and-off comfort game throughout. By consequence, Rose was just someone I kept coming back to and reiterating.

And honestly, so was Vulpes. I've had a long time to get to know the guy and to hear people compliment my interpretation is really validating. Someone once commented that he had an angry-prince Zuko vibe and I can't believe I never made that connection myself lmao. I think I have a type. oops

They used to be fairly similar in personality but as I was hammering out their dynamic and her motives at-large I realized it's so much more fun if she was like. the sparkler to his bomb fuse, ykwim.

For the future, I haven't decided what I'm doing with Rose after my comic Ave True to Caesar. But I Have Ideas!

Without getting into spoiler territory (not that there's a whole lot to spoil) all three characters take a huge risk which alters Rose's story from NV canon, and ATTC is primarily about WHY they made those choices. In Caesar's case, he's already taken that risk.

The consequences of those choices is something that deserves its own 10-15 pages. An ambush, another argument, a quest gone wrong - something that can be established and resolved within that scope. Alternatively I could explore something not legion related at all, like her relationship to house or the companions.

And she's obvs getting painted, Rose is the kind of woman meant for action shots lol
