Guess who is marathoning harty p/otter 😎
I need more excuses to talk about marlene and her passion for painted art. I just wanna talk about her sketches being the only part of her artwork that is not absolutely abstract and impossible to decipher.
And how after she starts losing her family her art gradually grows even messier but less colorful, mixing colors almost violently until they just become shades of grey.
Second war marlene doesn’t paint any longer. Just the constant scribble of sketches on any paper surface which is an anxiety coping method alongside her compulsive smoking.
I wanna write bellatrix again
wow icb james fleamont potter was in the ICONIC band the stiff dylans

The Mckinnons as they were before their death:
Mordred Mckinnon: former slytherin, pureblood wizard and the Mckinnons’ father. Serious man, distant but blindly devoted to his family and ideals. Former housemate of many Death Eaters, was asked to join but refused.
Ella Mckinnon: german witch, attended durmstrang in her school years. Died during the birth if Marlene’s younger sister, Myrcella. A firecracker like Marlene.
Maddox Mckinnon: oldest son of the Mckinnon clan, former ravenclaw. The most similar to their father, personality and appearence-wise. Him and his father were abducted and killed together.
Maverick Mckinnon: second son, calm and mild, patient and a good chess player. Hufflepuff. By the time he was murdered his wife was expecting. He was the last son to be killed.
Micah Mckinnon: youngest son, most similar to Marlene as they were both sorted into Gryffindor. The first Mckinnon to die, former member of the Order.
Myrcella Mckinnon: youngest child, shy and with a delicate health as she was born premature. Marlene took it upon her to raise Myrcella as a mother figure. The last Mckinnon to be killed.
All Mckinnons were killed under the span of two months. The biggest family massacre known in the first war.

SO I LOST ALL MY MARLENE ICONS, and i’m honestly too fuckin lazy to remake them, therefore i’ll be iconless from now on. peace mates xo
@stagcharmed : “ that’s the only truth… being alive. being blood, flesh. “
There is something somber about his words ( when James talks, he always does it with a dose of humor and spark and idealism ), this time, his words reek of despair, and as much as Marlene wants to punch it out of him, she finds herself simply tightening her fingers into a fist, and her free hand tosses her cigarette from her lips onto the ground, and her heavy boot stomps on it with unlikely viciousness.
You’re gonna catch the rug on fire – James never worries about details like that, and Marlene scoffs and huffs and she cannot tell if it’s the cigarette smoke or James gloominess that leaves a sour taste on her tongue.
James almost died. James and Lily almost died on separate ocassions, and the fact remains that as much as they remain strong and steady ( or try to ), they both endured the worst out of the Cruciatus Curse. James’ own scars still linger on his arms and chest, his neck, as if a rope had been tied around it and squeezed until it burned the skin.
There comes a point when Marlene cannot take it any longer, “ come off it, potter – you’re giving me a fuckin’ headache ! ” words come out harsh, almost a full – blown yell ( don’t say we’ll die, don’t say we’ll die. Heroes aren’t supposed to die ), and she’s bouncing from her chair to glare directly into James’ eyes, hands resting on either side of the bed frame, as if cornering the fucker until he takes back what he said – don’t fucking say we’ll die.
But then, it comes out of his mouth, and it sounds foreign, not because of the words themselves, but because James say it like something that ought not to be said out loud.
“ … Lily’s pregnant, ‘Lena. ”

@marlyne . ANGST BABY
❝ was hopin’ they wouldn’t let you in ❞ attempt at wry humour falls flat . both because it was a lie, [ he’d asked for her almost as much as for sirius and lily ] - and because it came through as a croak, his voice still sore from the screaming . still, he tries to sit up, so that this conversation could feel like it was taking place on more solid ground . how he hates to feel FRAGILE , until now he’d never considered that the body was such a breakable vessel .
but these are all thoughts to be kept strictly to himself, in favour of maintaining his resolution to never be the person people worried about . something he’d failed spectacularly, of late . it was why he needed marlene here. he could rely on her to march with the same resolution, two old friends steadfastly side by side UNTIL THE END . ❝ I did want to thank you . . . ❞ he knows she was amongst those who had rescued them [ how could be possibly repay her for that . words were not enough ] he takes a deep breath, hates how he’s never been so aware of where his ribs are ❝ but really I guess I was hopin’ you’d come in here and say something about how it’s all gonna be okay so I can stop moping. y’know, like old times . ❞
When they were kids, back at Hogwarts, Lily used to tell her about these weird books called ‘comics’ – they were colourful and filled with stories of heroes who saved the muggle world ( they had magic too, sometimes, they had to hide the fact that they did, and Marlene would always protest about it, and Lily would laugh as if she somehow understood the why behind such stupidity ). Marlene remembers loving the idea of being a hero – there’s just something about being a Gryffindor that means you ought to be one. If Slytherins are pricks, and Ravenclaws are Smart, and Hufflepuffs are good finders, then Gryffindors are heroes.
The door creaks when she opens it ( it’s a sickening sound, like bones cracking ), and the sight before her is anything but James. James Potter, the boy who would break his arm during a quidditch match and smile with bloodied mouth and crooked glasses. The Cruciatus Curse is brutal ( she has only heard rumors, it’s like needles piercing your skin, bones breaking silently, something tearing you apart whole ). Sometimes, it leaves open tears on the flesh, marks and scars too ( when it’s used on a human being for too long, when someone has endured it for hours and hours and hours ).
James had been missing for almost 48 hours – James endured the Curse for more than a fucking day.
“ too fuckin’ bad – y’know i’d be a pain in the arse of whoever kept me away from this room, ” dry snort, clenched jaw ( she’s sitting down next to the bed, glancing at the nightstand where James’ broken glasses rest as a somber war trophy ), “ me ‘n black were just plannin’ on sneaking in – moody’s downstairs, so i took the chance, “ Lily has been the only one allowed inside ( spousal rights only. There’s nothing as fucking ridiculous as thinking that would keep the rest of them outside ), “ … you’re – you’re fine moping tonight. ‘s allowed, so if you wanna cry that’s okay. ”
James throws her a look and Marlene knows she’s flaking, her worry is showing ( heroes always save the day. Heroes fly away into the sunset with the damsel in distress after kicking the bad guy’s arse ), “ ‘course, i’d rather you don’t, cause i came here so we can have a sleepover, like we used to when we were kids. I snuck in cigarettes and some firewhiskey, Black and Lily should be here soon, and then we can party good. ” they won’t be here, they aren’t allowed to be here. But Marlene cares little about rules, even less than she used to back at Hogwarts, “ there’s this muggle game Lily calls strip poker – thought we ought to give a try. ”
with all due respect, which is none,
Marlene in my alt verse being forced by her survivors guilt to come back to the uk during the second wizarding war and her being just a shell of her wild former self, down to her curly hair being pinned instead of loose, and her paintings lacking any color … a concept i need to explore more.
It’s just the reverse de development she suffers, the absolute crushing of youth innocence and idealism. Marlene mckinnon would NEVER run away and hide, Marlene mckinnon wouldn’t abandon her friends and ideals.
And yet, the war and the murders of her siblings broke her. Simply broke her entirely and not just emotionally.
