!!!!!! ANNIE I LOVE ALL OF THIS. i think sasha totally felt the same about birdie! she grew up with so many guys that she so totally loved having another girl around! and since she had so many guys, she didn’t always get to do plays with ladies in them (or she had to force a guy to be a lady, haha) so she probably doubly loved it when birdie was around!

AND I LOVE THEM STILL BEING FRIENDS/GRABBING COFFEE. sasha is also VERY supportive of anything and everything birdie tries to accomplish and especially her art. (she would know about that, right? doesn’t birdie show on the boardwalk or something? or did i dream that? O.O) alsooo, does birdie like to read??? because if she does, sasha would be ALL OVER THAT and probably give her a lot of book recommendations/try to get her to join her book club, hahaha. sasha and her love of books ~can’t be tamed.

I feel like when they were kids Birdie was like Sasha is my bestie!!! But I imagine after Birdie stopped going along with Stu to the boys house, the girls saw a little less of each other. 

I SAW. I SERIOUSLY SOBBED. abc actually cancelled lots of good things this year?? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU ABC?!?! WHY MUST YOU DO THIS TO ME????? but I am hoping someone else picks it up!!! it’s really great for the nashville tourism industry and all the cast really loves the show and ugh. i’m so upset about it. and, sadly, i’m still behind. but if it’s really cancelled, i’m afraid to catch up. apparently this season is supposed to end on a cliffhanger and if they’re really cancelled then it will never be resolved. I’M SO SCARED O.O

… anyway, uhm, i think chase and kim were supposed to get back together right before alan and kim’s party so they’re about to be together?? but i don’t remember if lauren and i have started chase and kim ic yet. let me check. *theme music plays while i run over to check* okay it looks like i wrote a started but lauren hasn’t answered yet. so they’re not quite together yet?? idk if that helps any? if you’d like to wait and talk to lauren about birdie/kim you’re more than welcome to! or we can go ahead and start. i really don’t mind either way! it’s up to you, dearie!

AND OH MAN. I AM NOT READY EITHER. i should go reread everything too. but i don’t know if i’m ready to sob that much yet O.O but ahhh. i love these two already!!!! (even if they will kill us both)

Okay YES it does end on a cliffhanger (and actually, there are many things that were frustrating to me this season) BUT the season finale was good. I liked it. I like the character who is in play for the cliffhanger and hopefully, it does get picked up from another network because I want to see what happens ... but the finale is good enough that I can pretend that never happened XD SO YES GO SEE IT GIRL!

“Oooh, can you make me one of those?” Becca asked, taking a seat up at the bar and eyeing a fruity looking drink that Birdie was making for another customer. “But actually …. can you make it non-alcoholic? I know, i know. Literally no one is more surprised than me by that question, but Seth missed my 21st when I was at college, so he wanted to celebrate it together now that I’m home … and I don’t know … for some reason, we thought going out twenty-one nights in a row would be a good idea. It’s not. We’re dumb. I know. I hate everything. RIP me.”  

“Babe, what have I told you about coming here for a non-alcoholic drink?” Birdie asks her simply.

She waits briefly and then answers, “Not allowed!” She’s teasing her though because soon enough Birdie is whipping up a virgin long island ice tea. “Here, don’t say Birdie didn’t ever give you something,” she teases with a wink.

With that, Birdie moves away and gets another drink for another person before she returns to Becca. “Here’s some nuts,” she says and puts a little bowl with peanuts in front of her.

Valerie knew that she’d have to forego the nightlife in favor of work until her business was profitable (and busy) enough to hire more help than just her brother. For the most part, she hadn’t cared, but it meant that she hadn’t always been there for Chase like she had in the past. She always made sure to take off whenever he had a gig, but his shows were becoming more and more frequent and her nights less and less free. In short, it had been a long time she had been able to do this. 

She’d come alone. She didn’t think she’d be able to swing it at all, but Seth knew how to close up and he’d kicked her out. 

She got herself a beer at the bar and then waded through the crowds, trying to find a good spot, but that wasn’t so easy. Before she found an open seat, she found a familiar face. “Birdie, hey!” She called, waving her arm, trying to catch her attention. 

Her gaze shifts to the crowed and then up to the stage. Chase hasn’t come out yet, but he should anymore moment now. 

“Honestly, I’ve not been to his gigs lately unless he’s asked me to sing with him,” she says, before she looks back at the girl, “But all these last few times I’ve come out, he’s really got a good crowed.”

Birdie moves to sit a little closer to Valerie because the room is loud and she doesn’t want them to have to shout to hear each other. 

okay but you know that scene in the princess diaries when mia ends up with a brain freeze and the other people are like “wE SHOULD JUST TAKE THAT MUCH TOO” and they all panic together? I CAN SEE CHRIS AND BIRDIE DOING THAT. which should totally be a thing that happens on their first date because it could also be like an ~ice breaker and maybe make them more comfortable with each other since they’re both SO TOTALLY AWKWARD??

BUT OH MAN. YES TO ALL OF THIS. because even though it’s going to be really awkward, i feel like it could also actually work??? because they’re both awkward together and maybe they will make them more comfortable and also give them the chance to find things they have in common and such.

but yes! we can totally just start them. maybe on their first date? just kick things off that way? do you want to start them or shall i?

“IT’S SO COLD, IT’S COLD” AHAHHA yes I KNOW THAT MOMENT YES. I would not be surprised if that happens to them. Poor things. Birdie is just gonna be like WHY DID I SAY YES TO STU. UGH THIS IS WHAT HE FEELS WHEN I SET HIM UP WITH PEOPLE #neverdoingthatagain 

YESSSS!!! I know they are very different but I thought that they would make awesome best friends?????? I feel like it’s probably a more ~recent~ friendship though??? like I imagine him meeting her through her bartending gig since I feel like they don’t really run in the same circles????

but ward is such a problem as a friend (and as a human tbh) like he doesn’t really know how the real world works smdh and I feel like he’s constantly inviting her to spontaneously go to x place with him like “hey do you wanna go to rome tomorrow i feel like pasta” and he will literally never learn that birdie has an actual life/responsibilities and that normal people don’t just go to rome for the weekend b/c they feel like it.

also he just loves teasing/making fun of everyone/everything (including himself) and like nothing is sacred/nothing is serious/he’s an actual man child/i’m so so sorry  

Lizzy, I love it. I am so glad you made them besties. Ward can add flavor to Birdie’s life! XD SO yes, I agree on them forming their friendship recently. Maybe in the last couple years? Cause you’re right they definitely do not run in the same circles! 

YES but they met at a boring party where Birdie was bartending and she made it a habit to bring him a drink whenever his got low. So he was like: THIS CHIC IS RAD. After which, I feel like Ward probably called her up randomly to do random shit until they began to more consistently hang out? 

I can see Birdie actually agreeing to half of the things he proposes just because she feels stuck and he provides an easy way out... but she wouldn’t skip out on work though cause she needs the dough. BUT I FEEL LIKE their friends are always like surprised by their friendship? Like it seems out of place but it works so well for them? I think with Ward and Sally fake dating - I think Birdie totally gets a kick out of it. 

It had been an event ten years in the making. Longer, if you counted Alan’s first dabbles into art back when he had only been capable of dipping his fingers into paint and smearing them across a sheaf of paper. But this painting, the one he had worked to finish off and on for the past ten years was his one shining star.

He had begun to picture this moment from the second he had set back, surveyed the painting and decided that, finally, it was complete. It was the moment he would show it to his friends and family. The moment when he would finally be a real artist.

But no imaging could have made this moment more real. No imagining would give him the feeling that would so completely overcome him when he saw his friends stop, stare at the painting and that hint of a smile begin to play on their lips.

It was a high Alan had never before felt but knew he would long to feel again.

And when he watched a small brunette stop before the painting and go through the same rounds he’d watched each party guest before her reach, Alan did something he’d done with none of the others. He walked up to stop beside her, crossing his arms over his chest and taking in the painting as she did.

After a moment, he tore his eyes away and looked down to focus on her. He leaned toward her, bumping her shoulder with his own.

“You know, soon we’ll be doing this for you. And then I’ll have the chance to return the favor. And tell you how great your painting is and how much I’ve longed to see it framed and hanging in a museum somewhere.”

Well, she knows how he isn’t feeling. Which of course, Birdie isn’t feeling herself either - disappointment in herself - or at least, she’s convinced herself to only think about how good Alan must feel about himself right now.

By the time she’s finally reached his main artwork on display, Birdie’s eyes have already been on it for a while at a distance. She feels herself still when she comes face to face with it - taking in the colors and texture of the painting. 

Truth is, she doesn’t even notice Alan come up beside her until he bumps into her shoulder. Her body slightly readjusts and she shifts her weight. Birdie takes in his words as her gaze is fixed on his painting. She may not be as infatuated with Alan Foster anymore - but his words do seem to paint her cheeks red. He has too much faith in her, that she doesn’t have in herself.

“We’ll see about that,” she mumbles, mostly to herself and then bothered by her own terrible attitude, Birdie lifts her gaze to meet his. 

“Alan,” she says, with a bright smile, her eyes growing small, “This is amazing!”
