Calle de Escolta My mother was so in love with Calle de la Escolta. She grew up in Santa Cruz, Manila. It was interesting how through Philippine history, Escolta shaped itself according to the influences brought by colonization. It was home to shops and boutiques, mostly selling goods by trade and Chinese immigrants during the Spanish Period. In the long run, commerce brought investors from the United States, among which was, H.E. Heacock.

Phil-American Period  It was the daily life at the Escolta business center of Old Manila. My grandparents moved to this city during World War II, wherein a new life blossomed for them upon the liberation of Manila in 1945.
