the way kaladin is like. the only character who gets an arc relating to overcoming his prejudices but it’s…him overcoming his “prejudices” against lighteyes…like huh……?

I mean, it kind of makes sense that he’d be such a people pleaser after the trial. Like, everyone he knew essentially black listed or didn’t support him after he took a risk on magic. That had to feel like a pretty big betrayal, and probably gave him some trust issues when it comes to showing his genuine self. The only 2 people who were willing to take a risk on him/act as confidants were strangers. While he probably knows he can genuinely lean on Viktor and Mel, everyone else could turn on him again. They did once before. He can’t trust his sponsor, his teacher, or even his mother to a certain extent, because their support is conditional. They may love him, but if they don’t believe in him, then Hextech is in danger again, and that is one of the most important things to Jayce. So he works desperately to keep it, even if it means he has to do stuff he doesn’t like. Like, he didn’t really want to schmooze at the Theater, but didn’t trust that the Council would respect his rational or authority on what the Hexgate security needed. So instead he tries to win their approval through making exceptions, rather than genuine leadership, which would mean showing a vulnerability like he did at the trial (he did do it in the last episode when he argued for a ceasefire with Zaun, but again, he is going to be hurt by that in some way since I’d bet good money that Mel or Viktor is severely harmed by Jinx’s Ult).
