idk why dr isnt really clicking for me other than this vague, stupid sense of "tone". i think id like it better if it wasnt serialized. undertale didnt really click for me back when it released either despite liking the fun inventive underlayer and small details. I feel like the story as a whole was uhhh too fluffy for my liking and a little bit "for babies" which I know is a very funny thing for me to say. the thing they say about toby having no evil characters is true. now I dont think evil exists or evil people exist but the fact that no one is complaining that any of your characters are pure evil is a bad thing. I understand this is like an objectively wrong opinion though and I should get beaten with sticks for preferring to eat garbage but I like garbage I like to play with garbage and make new garbage

something about cake decorating it is it really isnt like drawing, its often more like...sculptural? youre making shapes that stack on top of other shapes to create the image, especially for like a cake decorating chain where they have a pipeline and set steps so theres some uniformity. also you dont pull up when youre done with your line or shape or whatever like you would with a pen. you need to somehow pull down on the frosting tip so the frosting doesnt peak up in the air and idk how that wizardry is supposed to happen without uhh stabbing the cake.

wrist and arm pain from work again, no good. I definitely don't have good drawing habits and definitely NEED to use a looser grip. hard to beat out. harder grip forces stability for clearer lines. messy lines are caused from not knowing what im doing or where im going with the drawing. saw them described as "searching" lines which feels true, but its a lot of work to get rid of both as a habit and for drawing generally, which clogs up time on actually making a finished polished piece. the type of art I like to make is fine lines and detail work. these are basically contradictory with cake decorating, bcs theres basically no undo or erase button, even scraping the icing off could damage the fragile cake and make it crumble apart. the pain im hoping is just from my arm getting used to the pressure of squeezing an icing bag, I need to make sure the bags are not overfilled and that im not squeezing so goddamn hard. especially with writing and orders, its easier to make things to just stock the store because people will buy those regardless if the frosting swirls look good or not. my handwriting is also naturally bad, improving but naturally bad so im having to do a lot of work to compensate. I wish the cake tech from upstate was here more often. she always has really good tips for holding the bag at an angle that makes it just..come out perfectly. impossible to describe. think its helping though, my writing has improved in my art and maybe im hallucinating but i think my need for searching lines is lessening slightly too. having a creative job that you can derive animal enjoyment for making pretty colors go together feels healthy feels right and its nice to make something people really enjoy for a special occasion.
