Cooking was something neither Sam nor Colby could ever master, but baking was an exception. For Sam, it was something simple — follow the recipe, and measure ingredients. Cooking takes trial and error, which neither one had the patience for.
“You finally done there Sam? You’ve been baking all morning.” Colby asked, crossing his arms as he walked into their shared kitchen. Sam had already taken his new dessert out of the oven and is currently cooling on the kitchen island.
“Just about,” Sam replied. He ran a knife around the springform pan, gave it a few wiggles, before lifting the ring out.
Sam had made cake. Cheesecake more specifically.
“Woah,” Colby started from the opposite side of the island, “that looks surprisingly good.”
“Wow, thanks,” Sam rolled his eyes playfully at Colby's sarcastic remark. Colby eyed Sam’s new creation curiously, not knowing if he was allowed a taste.
“Cheesecake tastes good when it’s chilled, you know,” Sam remarked.
“Oh really?” Colby played along. “Well, what if I don’t want a taste.”
“I was just sharing a fact,” Sam shrugged as he grabbed the plastic wrap.
Before covering the cake up, Sam looked up at Colby. The blonde gave him a smirk.
“Go get the knife.”
Colby beamed a smile while bouncing off to the nearest kitchen drawer. “You’re the best Sammy.”
Sam couldn’t help but flash a smile himself. “I know.”
