âYeah..â She sighed, turning her gaze down for a moment. âI guess I just had this expectation that it would all be over in a month and my life would be back to normal, you know? Not â Not that I donât appreciate all I have now. I mean I love this job and this opportunity, but .. I really miss the hospital.. Feeling like Iâm doing something Iâm actually really good at.â She wasnât exactly making things better with anything she said. It was the contact with the customers here in the restaurant that was similar to her patients at the hospital. Except that the customers werenât all sick. And she was happy that Marco gave her the opportunity to work for him, without any real experience and with the knowledge that if she was to go back to work. sheâd be gone. It only proved what kind of man he was. A good man. âMaybe we should get you a folding cot for Christmas for overnight stays then. Though I canât imagine itâd be very comfortable.â She joked, a smile slowly lifting her lips again.Â
Marco nodded his head in understanding, even if he hadnât been through anything even vaguely similar. He could get it, he really, really could. âOf course you do,â he answered simply. âItâs what you wanted to do with your life. Why wouldnât you miss it? Iâd be feeling exactly the same way if I suddenly couldnât be here anymore. Itâd be like I was missing a limb or something and hey, no one wants that.â He shrugged his shoulders very casually at that, thinking on it a moment. He supposed there were other things that he could be doing, but no that heâd found it, this was definitely his calling. âOh God no, Iâm dedicated to my job, but I am not doing that. No way, no how.â
