I do script conversations for pieces of writing with them, but I don't daydream about our conversations much if at all. I do find guessing what they'd say kind of hard in writing as well, but at least there the dialogue is meant to serve a purpose in the story, rather than only meaning to be in-character, if that makes sense.

I've actually been thinking lately about the fact that I don't, and how this is connected to the relationship between friendship and romance, if that makes any sense,, obviously irl I'd want to be friends with my partner, and having interesting, easy (as in, we can speak freely) conversations is a big part of that. (I'm pretty awkward irl with most people so I'm always excited to find someone I click with.)

But that just doesn't feel possible with selfshipping, where I'm just not in the character's head. Like I said, the point of conversation is kind of that you aren't the other person and don't know what they're going to say, and in selfshipping you kind of are. In a way.

So . I guess that big lacking aspect is kind of why I can selfship with characters I'm genuinely not sure if I would get on with in real life (these usually don't constitute my "ultimate" ships, but still, worthy of note), and why sometimes the romance part, the actiosn of which i find much easier to imagine than the actual material words of conversation, feels much more convincing and easier to build than the bond of friendship.
