Anon visits webpages in 2022
As others have pointed out before, if you visited a web page 20 years ago and it acted like that, you would rightly assume your computer had gotten a virus.

Learn to articulate how you're feeling without accusing anyone of having bad intentions. You can say "I'm afraid of being alone" without saying "you're just going to leave me like everyone else." You can say "I need some reassurance" without saying "you probably don't love me anymore." You can say "I'm afraid I've hurt your feelings and I'd like to talk it through" without saying "you don't even like me anymore." You can say "I want to spend more time with you" without saying "you've gotten tired of me." You can say "I feel misunderstood" without saying "you always judge me." Try not to let your emotions get the best of you. Have a conversation focused on finding solutions instead of escalating the conflict.
"it's just stress" oh thank god, it's just the silent killer that slowly kills you, perfectly harmless, no need to worry
āThe LEGO Movie was my favorite movie of 2014, but it strikes me that the main character was male, because I feel like in our current culture, he HAD to be. The whole point of Emmett is that heās the most boring average person in the world. Itās impossible to imagine a female character playing that role, because according to our pop culture, if sheās female sheās already SOMEthing, because sheās not male. The baseline is male. The average person is male. You can see this all over but itās weirdly prevalent in childrenās entertainment. Why are almost all of the muppets dudes, except for Miss Piggy, whoās a parody of femininity? Why do all of the Despicable Me minions, genderless blobs, have boy names? I love the story (which I read on Wikipedia) that when the director of The Brave Little Toaster cast a woman to play the toaster, one of the guys on the crew was so mad he stormed out of the room. Because he thought the toaster was a man. A TOASTER. The character is a toaster. I try to think about that when writing new charactersā is there anything inherently gendered about what this character is doing? Or is it a toaster?ā
ā Bojack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg commenting on how weird gendered defaults in entertainment are, and why we should think twice about them. Excerpted from this longer original post. (via 360degreesasthecrowflies)
If staff reformed the ban system to stop banning trans women and used the resulting good will to re-introduce pornography, this site would become a juggernaut. It would swallow Twitter whole.

and while weāre at it, fuck this idea that ONE ACCOUNT has to belong uniquely to ONE PERSON. This is the same thing these silicon valley fucks want; their vision of the future where everyone has a unique biometric ID code implanted in their body is the ultimate extension of Netflixās āno password sharingā policy. You want to use your friendās car? Sorry, you canāt, you need to be an authorized user. Your mother wants to let you look something up on her OED account? Too bad! Thatās only for her! The concept of perfect market efficiency gives them greedy little money bag eyes.
If I pay money to have a newspaper sent to my house, they donāt charge me extra when I show it to my dad. This password sharing thing isnāt just a Netflix problem; donāt be surprised if it shows up elsewhere in other forms. Stamp this idea out now or weāll be stuck with it.
This is by far the most popular post I have and I have to say: good, Iām right. Password sharing and ID verification are going to kill the internet. not oooh in 50 years. in like 5 more.
With all the talk and praise about how Gothic cinema is so back, I really hope to see people keep this energy up if/when MÄrama releases internationally. This looks like it's going to be a really gorgeous film and not only is it one of the first Aotearoa/New Zealand Gothic films, but it's specifically a MÄori Gothic horror.
And don't even get me started on the poster design!! I gasped when I saw the tag line on the trailer
Whakapapa. WhÄnau. Utu.
I like what ive seen so far of Ariana, I enjoyed her as Tui in Madam earlier last year, so I'm excited to see her step up into this leading role.

having to stop your conversation with a coworker when a customer walks in has the same vibe as two knights talking ildly on guard duty who have to quickly shut up and resume their positions as the king walks by. at least. i think so
Look y'all, this reveal means so much to me. So many times in movies these days there are big reveals for the audienceās benefit that mean absolutely nothing in the context of the story or to the characters in it. Iām talking the Thanos cameo in the Avengersā stinger, Iām talking Benedict CumberKhan in Star Trek, Iām talking about every hackneyed āThis character is actually this other characterā when in universe nobody knows nor cares about their true identity.
But here? This reveal? This is a Big Reveal for us, Peter B Parker, and Miles, all on different levels. We and Peter both know Doc Ock is a portly dude, not a woman. We know the name Octavius⦠Otto Octavius. But when she says her name is Olivia Octavius weāre clued in to the fact that Doctor Octopus is a woman in this universe. And she has Peter captive.
Miles, if he was paying attention in science class earlier in the movie, would have known her name was Olivia Octavius, but that doesnāt mean anything to him, why would it? Liv has apparently been very good about keeping her supervillainy a secret. Sheās in educational videos shown in high-schools. So to Miles, the reveal here is this scientist lady, who he knew enough about to know was the head scientist at Alchemax, is a supervillain. He gets the reveal a second or two after Peter.
And the movie? It was dropping hints the entire time, confident in our expectations blinding is to the truth. Oliviaās name was partially visible when Miles got to science class. Her glasses are octagonal. The lights in her lab are octagonal. We know sheās working with the Kingpin. Why wouldnāt she be a supervillain? Because sheās hot? Hell, Peter even says he needs to reexamine his internal biases. Maybe he was telling us that we should too.
Itās a reveal for us, and for our heroes. It means something, both in-universe and out. And that makes it infinitely better than other similar reveals.
Iām not reading all that I want her to dissect me
