Someone send me a pretty pissed off PM quite some time ago because of my posts about Sasuke and then send me a post by some sn and her own message was basically "she is right, you are wrong, what do you have to say to this" and I kinda didn't want to entertain it much because I think it's rude to send what are basically asks when I have specifically CLOSED my asks because I already had so many. (It's one thing to send a quick message though which is fine)
If you agree with her, then go reblog her posts, no need to come to me. It's kinda similar with ss and nh, why can't they just reblog their own ship posts but have to come to me to convince me I'm wrong lol.
I don't wanna go back to read the message because I found the attitude of the sender off-putting, but from what I remember the post (they mentioned things that ns essayists get wrong, and I have no idea who they are talking about, not necessarily me, but regardless) was the usual "in japanese literature going on a quest is masculine, people finding you attractive doesn't make you feminine, masculine characters are admired for their looks too, japanese literature etc. etc." and like I'm pretty sure I have addressed those things couple times already.
It's not Sasuke being attractive, I am very aware attractiveness is an admired trait in general, even in hetero stories, even from "top" in BL stories. That's not what was being discussed. It is the way Sasuke's attractiveness is portrayed outside of the squeeling fangirls. Sasuke is portrayed as desirable, something to possess, sometimes even prey. It comes off not only as homoerotic but it's much more commonly how women are portrayed in media. But not just women, a good example is the movie Gohatto (Kishi's fave Takeshi Kitano played captain Hijikata in that movie btw) where a beautiful young man Kano Sozaburo's arrival distrupts the Shinsengumi, and the other men desire him, some want to dominate and own him. He's also a skilled fighter/swordsman and a bit sinister. But he's portrayed as an object of desire.
I simply find it interesting considering Kishi himself. As in why does he like writing these things. Anyway I once made a post about something that has to do with it also; [link]
