Moonwater leading to Jeg and Wolfstar
I want to preface by saying I don’t ship moonwater but have nothing against them lol they would be cute for a while and so I wrote this just as in if it were to happen, this is how i think it would go about.
I see a lot about Remus dating Regulus to get back at Sirius but idk for some reason I don’t think thats him. It would be a natural thing

Remus has to not forgive Sirius (as quickly) for the prank (but Sirius never recovers from the guilt)
Reason: Snape gets more injured than in cannon or he gets turned
Bonus: this gives him more credibility when he goes undercover as a deatheater he has valid reason to hate the school and or its students for lack of precaution by faculty
Remus and Regulus have to do patrols together
Remus starts hanging out with Barty and Evan because they’re rough around the edges like him (because he was never posh like James, Sirius, or Peter and only fit in because they forced him to)
He’s not mad at James, but realized that its not fair for him to make James distance himself from Sirius just so they can continue to be friends
Jilly is a thing until Lily realizes she doesn’t really like men and she was saying no to James for all those years not because she thought he was an ass (she thought she thought that) but it was actually because she was never really attracted to him. She gave him a chance because he is just so magnetic and flashy she thought she had a crush on him.
She realizes shes gay and James understands but is still heartbroken and wishes he had someone else to turn to. Sirius knows hear break too well and James knows he’s never gotten over Remus (maybe a year now) so he doesn’t want to burden him with it.
When Sirius is training new beaters or otherwise occupied 🤷♀️distracting himself with…. other people, James finds Remus and just hangs out with him to be near him again.
Remus is cautious at first because he thinks James is just there to convince him to forgive Sirius. A couple weeks go by and he doesn’t, so Remus lets down his guard.
Remus and Regulus have been dating for a couple months at this point (it wasn’t to get back at Sirius but a gradual thing: shared trauma… feeling of betrayal by the same person 😬 and what not)
Regulus, who has always liked James is starting to be reminded with James constant presence
For Remus, hanging out with James has made him realize how much he misses his old friends and the anger is slightly dulled by time.
Not on purpose and through casual conversation James mentions Sirius and Remus gathers that Sirius is not doing good.
Meanwhile James is struggling with bisexuality plus the issue of wanting Remus’ boyfriend (Remus who has been through enough)
Remus, Reg, Barty, and Evan go to a quidditch game for funsies and Remus sees Sirius and feels guilty/stupid that he still has a crush on him.
Regulus is watching James and is also guilty
One night they have a conversation where they both admit everything and are surprised that the other feels the same way….
Remus finally forgives Sirius and James gets the courage to ask Remus if its okay to date his ex lol
