I have only just found the Tolkien Disability Pride tag! Well, my Adar fics usually discuss disability - his own, and the disability culture of uruk-hai, who believe that their near-infinite variations in body and ability are their divine contribution to Creation. They are interdependent and care for each other as one body. This is their rebellion against Sauron's 'perfection', and against the elves who despise ugliness and mortal 'decay'.

I think my current work-in-progress, 'On the Bright Western Shore', is the most detailed re disability.

It is rated Mature for Adar's memories of Utumno and Angband (PLEASE READ THE WARNINGS!!!), but the 'present' of this story is mostly Adar and Cirdan pottering around in the garden like Frog and Toad, drinking tea and talking to hedgehogs.

Adar (barely) survives his assassination at Eregion, and is given asylum by Cirdan in the Grey Havens. Cirdan has long been concerned about the fate of the moriondor and their persecuted children, so this is an opportunity for elves and uruks to move forward. Also, he has a massive crush on Adar personally...

This fic has some details about Adar's gauntlet as an accessibility device, the effects of millenia of torture, the sensory & communication differences among uruks, and confronting elvish assumptions about health, 'purity', independence, and ability.

I feel like 30 Rock would do crazy numbers on Tumblr if it was (somehow) made today. This is mostly bc of its meta slant and insane joke per second ratio but also bc I am certain people would go wild for the Kenneth Lore. Tumblr loves lore the way confused men love Fight Club, and there are so many Kenneth things for people to make theory posts about.

He can take commands from animals. He's a Muppet of some sort. He stormed the beach at Normandy. He speaks fluent Latin. He can predict the future with his dreams, but he doesn't actually sleep. His mom remarried seven years ago and he never noticed. There's a distinct possibility that he's a biblically accurate angel. There might be more than one of him out there. His parents were technically brothers. His body is just a vessel for an unknowable higher being. His dad might have been D.B. Cooper.

In the northern hemisphere it is The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, when the Nettle Fairy visits and brings good uruk children a stingy treat

AU where Frankenstein's Creature wanders so far north, he slips over the border into Second Age Middle Earth and ends up wandering the wastes in Forodwaith.

He meets Adar and the Uruks who have just left Sauron's fortress, finally free.

Adar takes one look at the creature and says

THIS IS MY SON NOW.

Yes!

I found Adar's statement that he asked Sauron for 'children' odd if taken literally, because why would an elf-like being want children in Utumno?? But I would rather imagine Adar, being among the first experimental uruk mutations, asking in the same way the Creature asks for a companion like itself. This makes even more sense if one imagines Adar taken too early to know what children are yet: he might have asked vaguely for 'new things which will not shun me, and I will care for them'.
