surely there has to be another option between "churning out 20-episode seasons every year and the actors never see their family or friends and don't have time to do any other job and hate the show at this point" and "maybe you'll get 8 episodes every 2 to 4 years :)"

one of the things i like most about project hail mary is that ryland doesn't have a romance plot. it's such a relief to be able to watch an expansive, immersive sci fi movie about connection between all living beings and the power of courage and love between friends without gunking up the story with a romantic relationship. it emphasizes the immense sacrifice ryland was forced to make for all of humanity rather than shrinking that narrative down to one person

anyway the funniest thing about Dark Rise is how all the characters are like “wow Will is so good at getting people to talk about themselves! how does he do it? how does he manipulate people with such ease?” and the whole time Will is just . asking open ended questions. it’s literally “how to have a conversation 101” but none of these children have ever had to make small talk in their lives so they think it’s arcane magic instead. i’m obsessed
