it feels like the effort to categorize slang as AAVE and not 'gen z' or 'gen alpha' slang has really petered out. it feels like we stopped talking about digital blackface in an era where the administration is posting ai-generated videos of black women who speak and act like exaggerated stereotypes and it frustrates me because we all have a responsibility to understand our generation's role in normalizing this type of racist shit for kids today. this needs to be addressed!
Black people will never stop talking about this, but when we are on sites such as Tumblr, where so many of the white people feel that not only are they not racist, but that calling their racist behavior racist is emotional warfare on them, they will make sure to keep Black voices as silenced as possible.
Also, a lot of the Black people who got deleted or run off of the site weren't even accused of any type of Russian anything. A lot of them were just run the fuck off by the white Tumblr base on harassment shit.

@man-make-thing its under the cut because this got LONG
-first of all. he seemed to really hate teaching high school. he liked teaching but really just did not respect teenagers at ALLL. he thought every teenager was stupid and lazy and he just truly did not care for us
-second of all. he really DID NOT want to be teaching apush. he hates ap and hates collegeboard and i am sympathetic to that viewpoint (i also hate collegeboard) but this resulted in him not really... teaching us any skills we would need for the ap test? we did maybe one DBQ the whole year
-for that one DBQ, he taped all the documents around the room to be like stations. and when i said "hey i have fibromyalgia and i dont want to stand for 80 minutes doing something very easily done while sitting down" he said "do you have paperwork for that?". and when i said "yes i have a 504 plan" he said "okay sure, i just wanted to make sure you weren't joking"
-if you wanted to contact him outside of school hours, you couldn't email him. he did not check his email outside of school because "work-life balance". instead, you had to DM HIM ON INSTAGRAM. and he would like your posts and watch your stories and everything.
-it kind of felt like he was changing how he taught the class every single unit? i was never sure if we were supposed to be submitting our in-class notes or not, or our at-home notes, or what was even going on. for full transparency i do think i had ended up skipping that class 15-25 times overall but still 😭 (skipping for chronic illness reasons)
-the class was also dual credit with the indiana community college system which requires your legal name. and he was talking to me about how "yeah in the ivy tech database, there's so many people who's legal names i just found out and i was really confused, like who the fuck is [ ]" AND THEN SAID MY DEADNAME VERY LOUDLY IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE CLASS
-i ended up missing a bunch of assignments second semester (because my mom was dying (she got better dont worry)) and when i went to him to talk about it he just went "but she's alive, right? yeah you have to do the assignments if you want the points."
-our first semester final was an essay on the film "12 years a slave" and he gave us an example paragraph (not even full essay, just a paragraph) that seemed very... odd. it didn't make a single actual point, it didn't follow any of his insane writing rules (more on that in a moment), and it was very awkwardly phrased. i asked what the deal with that was and he said "oh yeah i used ai for that". like he could not even be bothered to type up a single paragraph himself. or even pull from previous student papers. he ended up really liking mine and said he would use it as an example essay for future classes. so.
-his writing rules. oh my fucking god his insane writing rules. a lot of it was actually very normal academic writing (third person only, no contractions, write numbers like two instead of 2) he just enforced them very strictly (if you broke any of them the max grade you could get was an 80%)
-you weren't allowed to use ANY conjugations of 'to be'. no is/was/am/were/etc. his reasoning for that was there's usually a sentence structure that flows better without those verbs but he just banned it on principal. and when people tried to challenge this by explaining how sometimes they are necessary or just fine words to use he doubled down even harder. they were just banned on principle. (because he did not trust teenagers to write in a way that wasn't lazy)
-our second semester final was to interview someone over the age of 60 and i interviewed my godmother who is a lesbian. do you know how hard it is to come up with a way to say someone is gay WITHOUT using is/was/were or sounding like you're using a really roundabout euphemism? i'm convinced it's impossible
and this is all really crazy especially because
-i had him the next year for ap gov and he was SO CHILL. he literally did not give a fuck about any of this.
-he's still not as bad as the previous apush teacher at my high school
-first, bummer that all this behavior was just entrenched in disrespect from him
-ONLY ONE? ONE DBQ
-Im really glad that you had the proper documentation of everything because everything else leads me to think he just straight up would not believe you and belittle you for your chronic illness
-INSTAGRAM? he, he like watched his students reels and stories, thats so unprofessional and also just like, weird, the hell??
-even though you missed that many classes, Its still bonkers that it was that inconsistent that you couldn't track what was needed of you in the classes that you attended. Also a little disheartening that he made no strides to make it clear to you.

-I gotta be honest, I have learnt so much about you in such a short time but the sentence "(because my mom was dying (she got better dont worry))" was just like getting hit by a train and getting mortal wounds, then getting hit by a second magical train that made all the wounds okay again. Im perfectly fine and healthy but I just got hit by two trains. Enough about me, absolutely insane that he has the gall to be so nonchalant about that and still make you do the assignments in such a draining circumstance.
-sighh, Treachers using AI then going about it like "oh yeah no I used it and it just didnt follow anything so uh I hope you remember my vauge verbal instructions on how to do this" My statistics professor uses AI for like all of his assignments, and he just has to keep going "oh yeah no its not like this in the text book. Oh we are not covering this yet thats for later. This is an outdated term" BECAUSE HE JUST WONT wWRITE HIS OWN SHIT!! Really awesome that he selected yours to be used as a class example its always really flattering when that happens. (for me at least I cant assume your experience especially with how he is in every other reguard)
