Veronica didn’t like Jackie because like I mentioned before, she assumed she knew what Jackie was all about and wrote her off. It didn’t help matters that upon their first meeting Jackie had no problem giving Veronica the same dose of snark she’s fond of using. 

It didn’t help that Veronica’s trust issues are deeper than the Grand Canyon. But those trust issues had nothing to do with Jackie, she was just the unfortunate person so happened to be in Veronica’s line of sight and who was dating her best friend. Now I know some are probably thinking that Veronica was just being super protective of Wallace and that she was just trying to make sure he didn’t end up getting hurt. And I’m not denying that but thanks to Veronica’s myopic nature she was unable to see that Jackie was struggling in her own way too.

In any other show, Veronica & Jackie would have become mortal enemies whose life mission was to make each other miserable in increasingly sadistic and inventive ways. Except Veronica Mars wasn’t like other shows. Instead of going down that all too familiar route Jackie & Veronica became friends. Okay, not friends, but they didn’t hate each other either and it wasn’t because Jackie was dating Wallace. No, the ice began to thaw between Jackie & Veronica when Veronica started to let her walls down just long enough to see that Jackie wasn’t like all those other people who were just out to use people to their advantage.
