Look at how happy Jay is, being lifted up like the prince he is!! And Carlos being a precious, soft boy jumping and cheering and being so visibly ecstatic. He does the little ‘rock n roll’ hand signal too which makes it even cuter somehow.  They are both so proud and excited and just being soft, babies enjoying their victory and getting the appreciation and validation they deserve.

The way Mal who spent most of ‘did I mention’ looking for a way to escape, is being visibly enthusiastic and cheering for the boys. Evie jumping and clapping in her spot, not holding back at all. I LOVE THEM. Mal holding up her fist and laughing with Evie is such a soft moment, Miss ‘I’m the fiercest in all the land’ visibly celebrating for the people she cares most about. Both Mal and Evie look so genuinely excited and giggly, they’re experiencing some of that child-like happiness that they were deprived of and it makes me so soft 🥺🥺🥺

How Jay points to Mal and Evie mid cheer, he actively searches for them and how they mirror the action back to him. Evie’s little smile as she points back to Jay. Both of the girls laughing at how much of a dork Jay is. But how they both point back to him with just as much eagerness. They are all babies and I think about this interaction a lot. 

And yes, the whole point of the movie is the VK's dealing with the expectation on all sides that they're going to be just like their parents, but honestly that's the least of Auradon's problems.

Audrey having reservations about Mal because she knows for a fact that Mal's mother, the person who raised Mal and shaped her worldview, is an absolute monster? Fine. Totally fair. Not okay to hold Mal responsible for her mom's crimes (especially since Mal has been suffering for those crimes all her life since she basically grew up in a prison), but I can understand Audrey's general thought process. While I hate to use Chad of all people as a good example, he does have a point when he says that the VK's were raised by their parents, and their parents are all absolutely garbage people in their own unique ways.

Chad and Audrey's behavior pales in comparison to the adults in the story, all of which are stupid at best and abusive at worst. That includes the good guys like Fairy Godmother, who is directly responsible for creating the barrier in the first place.

Maleficent as portrayed in Disney's Sleeping Beauty is petty, volatile, a sadist, and has no qualms about collateral damage or hurting innocent people to make a point. The Evil Queen is vain and beauty-obsessed to the point of it being her villainous motivation, and so prone to envy that she flat-out tried to murder a teenager in a fit of jealous rage. Twice. Jafar is a scheming, power-hungry manipulative bastard who can and will use the people around him for his own gain and discard them when he's done. Cruella De Vil is a pet thief and a dog murderer in a universe where dogs are sentient, and is prone to fits of unhinged fanaticism when she doesn't get her way.

I’m extremely disabled. I will probably never be able to transition in any capacity. I am dependent on my bigoted family and on a bigoted medical system to survive. HRT could hurt my body very badly and I cannot bind because of chronic chest pain. I cannot have top surgery for those same reasons.

There’s so much more to being a man, woman, non-binary than how you can present yourself. And a lot of us are trying desperately to come to terms with that. With the idea of being closeted forever or just straight up trying to navigate our own identies among other trans people more privileged than us.
