Originally these brothers (mainly the older brothers) were based off Orthrus and Cerberus but as regular mortals but I've since turned them into heaven hounds and giving them a halo for each of the brother/s. I originally wanted a wreath halo (it was the first iteration halo worn by Chester) but I couldn't draw it properly so I went with the one you see today.
Each brother is also based on a type of angel, Chester is based off the common portrayal of an angel, being a person with a halo.
The older brothers are based more on biblically accurate angels.
Rieneir and Reinier are based off Ophanims/Thrones, though a bit more simplified.
And the final set of brothers Michael, Raphael and Gabriel are based off Cherubims, also a bit more simplified.
Giving them wings would probably help more with their angelic portrayals but I don't think I want to make their styles even more complex than it already is T^T.
I'm a bit more confident in my art style and progress that I wanted to redraw all MaLobo brothers! I haven't drawn the older brothers in a long while since I can only do the generic front facing portrait for them and I wanted to do them justice
Starting with my Fursona Chester! Yes I know I draw him often, but I gotta start with the youngest MaLobo brother!
The rest of the brothers will follow shortly within a few hours. Like Chester, they also had a slight redesign.
After this, I'll use these new artworks as my profile pictures to all three Tumblr accounts!

I like them! You can do a lot ways for the characters to wear them!

My headcanon is that both Barnacles and Tweak wear them since it was the first uniform the Octonauts used during their days in the old Octopod. Dashi and the rest of the crew wears a different uniform since it is the new uniform that came with the new Octopod but Barnacles and Tweak kept their old ones for different reasons.
Barnacles wears the old uniform for sentimental reasons, to him it's like having a piece of the old Octopod with him. Tweak wears hers since its much more practical for her work compared to the new uniform.
Unfortunately the Jumpsuits they're wearing are general purpose which means it wasn't tailored to each species, it's fine with Tweak since she has a more average build but it causes Barnacles to overheat during hot days due to the fabric being thicker but he's too stubborn to change it. That's why Polaris leaves his unzipped, it's that uncomfortable to polar bears ๐ฃ.
As for why Polaris is wearing Barnacles' Jumpsuit in the image, Barnacles' sons get upset when their dad goes on a mission, When babysitting the twins, Polaris noticed that wearing the jumpsuit makes the twins less antsy about their dad. It kind of tricks their brain into thinking their dad is around.๐น
I was working on an ask and I noticed that I haven't drawn the twins just by themselves, they're either in a group or one twin being paired with Barnacles instead, so I wanted to make an artwork that spotlights just these two.
Since I wanted to do a quick drawing, I didn't draw their accessories ๐ but it kinda works since it shows just how identical they are (the mirror ruler kinda carried though).
Character Lore: (Spoilers!)
I'm aware that they're essentially Barnacles with a different eye color and to be honest that's how it originally started. I wanted to experiment with Barnacles' character but I didn't want to drastically change him since his canon personality is interesting enough as it is, so I resorted to make a Barnacles lookalike with a different personality to interact with Barnacles to see how it plays out hence Barnius๐ปโโ๏ธ, then the AU developed and resulted in Barnius' fleshed out personality and Polaris shortly afterwards.
So now that my AU is well established, I needed a good reason why the three of them look alike, so instead of pure coincidence that they look identical to Barnacles, it would make more sense if they were related so in my AU, they are a spitting image of their maternal grandfather, with them inheriting the eye colors of their fathers. Hopefully, this gives more of a plausibility to their existence in my AU, then again the hybrids are more of a stretch than these two ๐
Also their names are an accidental pun! Since the older twin is Polaris, the order would be Polaris Barnius, it's like making the Polar Bear into a name!

So I was watching the Vegimals Christmas special of the Octonauts and I noticed that Shellington just made a horror movie move.
Let me get this straight, he found eggs of unknown origin and his first thought was to incubate it? And when they started to hatch, his first instinct was to place his face directly on it? ๐ญ Thank goodness this man isn't in a horror movie cause he would've doomed his entire crew if what hatched in those eggs weren't the family friendly Vegimals.

I'm done with the first panel of part 12! I'm now doing the second panel and I need you guys' opinion. Should I keep my headcanon Natquik that looks young despite being old or should I make him look his age? I like him either way but a decision must be made and I'm indecisive.
Those two small lines under his eyes make such a big difference doesn't it? Hahaha.
Part 12 should be done by the evening of June 8 if nothing comes up to take my time again from drawing.

I came across this video by Randomhuman on YouTube and I want to share it hahaha, I think their name here on Tumblr is @rrandomhuman. It's an Octonauts horror AU, if you're into that, give it a watch!
Then again, this was posted a week ago and I'm kinda late so you guys may already know about it, still I want to share hahaha.
This is just an intro screenshot since I don't want to spoil it.
Similar to the Castaway Barnacles AU, I might make a fanart of this AU when I get the chance!
Part 12 coming up soon! It might take a while, I know I usually post at least two panels per month but I don't think I'll be able to finish this before May ends. Also this next one technically has two panels! Not including the end card.
The reason this next post is 2 panels long is because posting them separately wouldn't feel right and the second is mostly a lore drop panel.
Sure! But it's a bit of a spoiler, so spoiler warning!
Their names have been updated, from Arktos to Arktikos and Arctus to Arcturus, that way they actually have different sounding names and not just a respelling of each other ๐๐ . (I'm bad at naming twins when I started this AU hahaha)
Here are more updated headcannons:
- Before we start, you'll get to know them more in chapter 2! Since it's mainly about them and the history of APEX.
- They are now hybrids instead of just being clones, since it is the staple of APEX Biotechnology to make animal hybrids which they came from.
- Neither of them is the older or the younger twin since they both came out of their incubator at the same time.
- Unlike most of the twins in this AU, Arktikos and Arcturus would be portrayed with the same personality to the point that you can't tell them apart, they're playing a genre of twins in media that are literally identical in every way. (Yes I know twins in real life aren't like this, these two are for the sake of fiction).
- As originally intended, they are still a clone of Barnacles but a hybridized version of him.
- They refer to Barnacles as Papa most of the time. They then call him Father in the most formal way possible when they're upset at him ๐.
- They couldn't communicate with Barnacles or anyone else at first since they never learned how to talk, but were able to understand the Vegimals perfectly. It was later learned that all hybrids can understand Vegimalese, which the hybrids refer to as the Origin Language.
- They learned how to talk during the time skip from the main series to the above and beyond series.
- The Vegimals were the ones to teach the twins how to speak and communicate since the twins can understand them.
- They actively copy their dad's actions much to the delight of everyone, especially their dad. At first anyways...
- Kwazii was the second person they became fond of. Then again, Kwazii placed a lot of effort to gain the twins' trust.
- They would often ask advice from their uncles Barnius and Polaris on mischievous ideas which they would then try out on their Dad and the rest of the crew.
- They would often visit Barnius' ship to visit their Aunt and sometimes, their cousins Orson and Ursa.
- Shellington loves to talk to them since he can answer all the twins' questions about other creatures. He sometimes gets carried away though, using terms the twins can't understand.
- Dashi often reads them a story book to sleep when their dad is on an overnight mission.
- Tweak and the Vegimals modified the Gup V for both Arktikos and Arcturus to use. Barnacles doesn't know how to feel about this.
- Professor Inkling was so fond of the twins that he would often join safe missions so that he can chaperone the twins while the other crew members do their work.
- In his spare time, Peso would often teach the twins musical instruments. The twins are working their way up to learning the accordion like the one their dad plays.
- Natquik, still feels guilty with what he indirectly did to the twins. The twins like him though, after all he's one of their rescuers.
Headcannons that include their Papa Barnacles:
- Barnacles had to learn the Origin language (Or Vegimalese) since it was the only way for him to communicate with the twins up until they learned how to talk. He was very dedicated to it.
- During the events of above and beyond, Barnacles would be kept company by the twins, giving him a reason to go out and teach the twins about the world and guide them with their polar scout badges whenever Barnacles isn't on a mission or isn't part of one.
- The twins are the reason Barnacles became less self-sacrificing/reckless with his own well being, especially after the events of the crisis of the tsunami.
I think that's all of it! I probably missed a few, sorry if I did, I'll update it again soon or you'll probably see them when I show the twins in the AU!

My AU takes place before above and beyond and the twins won't be speaking full sentences until then. So I wanted to know your feedback on it.

I had to be careful with their design, I want to make their Science fiction at the same level as the Vegimals so they won't feel off. They're just hybrids with unique abilities (such as the Vegimals' ability to breathe both in land and in water) but not too overpowered.
Since we're following the Octonauts, most of the experiments were going to meet are part aquatic.
The sizes are off since each of them were separate artworks in my sketchpad and I just placed them together in one big artwork, that's why they look a bit separated.
- The twins are slightly smaller than Orson and Ursa
- Mariana is slightly taller than Kwazii and Dashi
- Cornucopia is the same size as most seals in the series.
- North is the same height as Shellington
- Azul is the same height as the Vegimals
- Everly is the same height as Koshi
- Dugsley is also the same size as the Vegimals
There's more of them, APEX Biotechnology has facilities world wide in this universe, so there are a lot of hybrids out there. The company is technically one of the villains in this AU but you don't have to worry about them.
