Sex scene as character study is so good. What is your relationship to your body? What is your relationship to your partner? What lessons have you absorbed from the culture about yourself as a sexual being? How much do you have to trust someone before being comfortable with intimacy? What fears and insecurities come to the fore for you when you take your clothes off? It's so good.
hazel, do you know which article it is that's all 'sid never says anything interesting, he answers a question by telling us what we already know, but we all hang onto his every word anyway'? Thank you!
Is it this one? Iâve always love this extract about him; itâs so fantastically true:
As a rule, Crosby does his interviews while sitting. Like all genuinely strong people, he prefers the weaker position. Itâs hard to badger a guy from above.
We all cluster around his locker ready to be charmed by his presence. We know he wonât say anything interesting. Crosby is an interesting guy, but he has excised that part of himself for public consumption.
Thereâs no advantage for Crosby to be seen as edgy or slightly ahead of conventional thinking. Few players have ever so ruthlessly exploited advantages like Crosby does.
Heâs asked about a couple of the dayâs Hall of Fame inductees â Dominik Hasek and Peter Forsberg. Crosby has learned the experienced intervieweeâs trick of repeating your question back to you as a statement. Hasek was âunbelievable.â Forsberg âloved to compete.â This doesnât mean anything, but everyone nods like Crosbyâs handing out stone tablets.
Someone brings up the slow fade of the enforcer â a topic with small potential for controversy. Crosby says, âThatâs just the way the gameâs evolved. Everyone adjusts accordingly. Thereâs definitely been some change. Thatâs just one of the many things that, with time, you see changes.â
You ask him about the disappearance of fighting, and Crosby tells you fighting is disappearing. Itâs a hell of a trick.
So is he for it? Or against it? Does he care either way? No one has any idea. We all keep nodding. - Article
the original link to the article didnât work for me, so hereâs an updated one
Crosby remains whatever we want him to be and reporters hang on his every pronouncement, even as he says nothing

Geno, after scoring his 800th NHL point (27-12-2016).
Is he really old? Â - Sidney Crosby: Â Off Day 11.7.2016
âDonât let the smile fool you - he wants to be the best at everything. I remember when we were playing together in Pittsburgh, in training camp, we had our pre-testing, you go in there and have medicine ball throws from the knees to see how far you can throw them. You get three throws and every guy that beat Sidney Crosby, heâd go back in on his own time and throw more balls. He went and he ended up throwing, the trainers told me, 35+ balls, not for the record, but for his own personal âI beat this guyâ. Heâs so competitive out there.â
â
Mike Rupp tells a story about Sidâs competitive nature during the All Star Weekend, 1/29/17

a funny thing about having a Problematic Blorbo is that you'll periodically come across a post along the lines of "um let's not forget that [Blorbo] is a bad person..." listing their various crimes, and if you have a modicum of intellectual honesty you find yourself nodding along and saying yeah it's true... but it's the greyness of their character that makes them so compelling... At the same time though you have a little Saul Goodman in your ear going "your honor in their defense: who cares like omfgggg who caresssssss like come onnnnnn"

actually sports are awesome because if i told you there was a piece of fiction with a sports veteran who everyone is constantly comparing to his prime and wondering if he's about to retire and if we're all just watching a swan song and that by the way his nickname starting up was 'the kid' you would tell me it was too on the nose. and yet.
if i told you about a guy having to hide in an airport and then hunker down in a foreign country waiting for a visa after his former team tried to steal his passport to keep him from going to play in another league you would say what is this a spy movie. happened to my good friend evgeni malkin though.
