apropos of nothing, does anyone else remember that sportsnet interview robo did after signing his second contract in 2022 where jeff marek asked how his teammates reacted to negotiations stretching into training camp? anyway, just because i transcribed the whole thing back when it happened, i thought it'd be fun to look back on robo's response. apropos of nothing, of course.
JM: what, uh, i’m curious as well, like, i would imagine some of the older players, whether it’s benn or suter, would’ve called you during this and said, like, where are you at, or are you close? you know, we’ve got a real good team here. what are those conversations like with some of the veterans on the team?
JR: uh, i think all of them called me. or texted, gave me a text. um, you know, they understood the situation. you know, jamie benn missed five games of the season, nine … eight, nine years ago, so he, he had a similar situation except it went further in, so, but — he definitely, you know, called me, wanted to know how it was going. but they’re team players, they’re veterans, you know they’re kinda like team, you know, player first — take care of yourself, you know, make sure you get what you deserve. um, so that’s — they’re just great people, and they understand it’s a business for both sides, and, uh. they definitely, um, wanted what’s best for me, and for the team, obviously, they uh, they knew it was going to get done.
