I think I sent you an ask about it forever ago because its been percolating in my mind forever and ever but! Its about Tenten and her team because they're my favorites :D
It's called Not The Only Ten I See and, essentially, Tenten is from the Land of Tea and emigrated over with her older brother at a young age. The Land of Tea has no actual shinobi as we see in canon but chakra and shinobi tools are widely taught to everyone in an "everyone knows a little but no one knows a lot" sort of thing. Because of this, weapons and tools and objects imbued with chakra and seals are very common because they're easier to handle than a whole bunch of jutsus.
Tenten, as she grows up, follows roughly the same as she does in canon until she gets on her team. She idolizes Tsunade for her use of chakra as a tool in the human body and for her ability to use chakra to enhance her body, things which were commonplace in the Land of Tea but not to the extent of Tsunade's legendary mastery. She's very driven and hyperfixates on things, sometimes to the detriment of other skills. She also has a better sense of "good enough" than her teammates and is less of a perfectionist than they are. She's very blunt to people and will give her opinion on them to themselves and others, and can be mean when she gets nervous, but she ends up feeling very bad.
Not to give too much of the plot away, but she did want to take the chuunin exams the first time because she thought it would be a fun experience but agreed not to because it wouldn't be fun without her team. As she learns more about seals and grows away from medical jutsu, she expands into chakra weapons (like Asuma's chakra blades) and other applications on shinobi tools and civilian tools.
I also wanted to explore the unique ways Lee and Neji can use chakra. In my world, Lee has a condition where he can't control or output any chakra externally, but he can still manipulate it internally. This means he can augment his punches, reinforce/heat up his skin, regulate his temperature, etc, but he can't perform any jutsu. Neji, for his part, because of his extensive knowledge of tenketsus and ability to see the flow of chakra, I want to see if I can play with him being able to use multiple elements out of different tenketsus at once or something like that.
I want to examine the divide between shinobi and civilian using Tenten as someone who exists in between because of the structure of the Land of Tea and the divide between civilians in shinobi villages and civilians outside of them. This fic is pretty much an excuse for me to talk about Tenten Lee Neji and Gai, explore all the cool things I like about chakra, and examine the social dynamics present in a world like Naruto.
None of this is written in prose yet but I do have a pretty large outline going and I'm so excited! I have a laptop coming in soon so I can stop typing on my little phone screen and that will make things soooo much easier lol
