                “I mean, I guess they’re technically both undead but that’s pretty much where the similarities end. You shoot a vampire in the head and all it’s gonna do is piss him off. Trust me, last thing you wanna do is piss off a hungry vampire.” and they’re all hungry. Doesn’t matter if they’ve just fed. Makes them harder to kill, but she doesn’t say so. Information like that’s not gonna help him, anyway.

She reaches up to gently squeeze the nape of her neck, trying to put a little pressure on an ache that just can’t seem to leave her be. 

                             “Look… Maj. You’re a soldier, that’s nothing but a plus out here but the long and short of it? Killing monsters is woman’s work. Just the way it is. I get you’re trying to help but if you come with me, you’re gonna die.”

"Honestly, I don’t really get the distinction. Which is why I’m asking. Faith, there’s so much we still don’t know about the zombie virus and exactly what we are once we’re infected. I mean. Are we human? Are we corpses? Does it even make any sense to call someone dead if they’re able to go to 7-11 and grab a Mountain Dew?”

He continues to walk with her, keeping his hands in his pockets. An old trick he learned. Major never fidget or squirms because he knows just when to keep his hands occupied so they can’t give his anxiety or nervousness away. Its nice to look in control, even when you’re not.

                   “A couple miles, mostly older graves. Don’t usually see a lot of action, there.” she’s restless. Hard to focus on the job when it’s so damn quiet. Peaceful, even. Truth is? Faith’s not really built for peace and quiet. As Slayers go, Faith’s a straight-up two-stroke. Runs on all forty-eight cylinders. Born to cause a damn ruckus but when there’s nowhere to point that energy, it gets under her skin.

She’d love to not be teaching school right now. Nothing against Lilywhite, he’s an actual muffin. Sweeter to her than she’s got any right to expect but spending time in her world means pain and blood. Vampires. He’s got to learn the ropes, she’s just not keen on teaching them, “Job’s hard but it’s not complicated. Not usually, anyway. Wood through the heart, sunlight, holy water. Fire, beheading… you sure you’re up for this?”

“You’re acting like I’ve never slayed before?” he scoffed before immediately admitting, “Which, fair. But you could not have possibly known that.”

He follows Faith’s lead without question. Could she be leading him into certain doom? Sure, but he’d like to believe this is just vampire slayer foreplay. A little death and destruction to get the blood pumping. Reality is a harder pill to swallow. Faith, well. She’s just not that into him. He has to be alright with that.

                      “I mean, technically I saw you as abs with a face on top, but hey. Liability? That’s what you are if I let you in. Don’t act like you need a safe space over this. Goes both ways. You got a title, yo. And a target on your damn back. You think there’s even the slightest chance that some asshat holding a grudge isn’t gonna try to get to you by gettin’ to me? And I got priors, Dickweed. Wanted fricking fugitive. Wouldn’t be a damn thing you could do for me, neither. So, yeah. There’s no us, never gonna be. Nothing personal.”

“What? No of course, not, that is sacred… But I was thinking we might spice up Pizza Friday with Fried Food Fridays,” Ravi said shifting the conversation as he tasted the guacamole. “Thoughts? I mean, pizza is really an anytime sort of fare.”

          Was there a murder attempt he’d missed? Probably. “Who needs feelings, anyway? Here, have a drink, Major. It’ll help you forget any and all feelings.” Blaine made sure to show he was pouring it out of the same bottle he’d just poured his own out of, just in case the guy was paranoid. He wouldn’t blame him if he was.
