âOhâŚis he complaining about me again?â She laughed, glancing away from him for a moment before turning her eyes back, faux innocent expression on her face. âIâm sorry.â No she wasnât. âItâs just so difficult to resist good chocolate. Especially spicy dark chocolateâŚâ The brunette slide into the passenger side when he opened the car door.Â
Brow raised at his comment when he slid into the driver seat. âOh, I plan to push YOUR buttons often. Though Iâm not sure youâll always like itâŚâ Blue eyes follows his arm as Blaine untangle the seat belt and pulled it over her, then turned to look at him curiously. âYou knowââ Shay started, smiling small as he started the car and pulled out of the garage. ââyouâre growing on me more and more.â Did Shay know how she felt about that? No, not at all. It was a little confusing and mildly overwhelming.
When he turned on the street, they passed a few cars before coming to a long, empty road. Tongue ran over her lips as Shay glanced over at him, waggling her brows while fingers danced over the button. As soon as Blaine gave her the okay, she looked straight out the windshield and pushed it. Instantly, the car jolted forward, causing a small, excited scream to leave her lips.Â
The yellowish white and green of trees and lights blurred past the windows. If they werenât dressed to the nineâs, Shay would have rolled down the windows to enjoy the breeze.Â
âNo need to apologize. Thereâs a reason I donât get the spiciest variety.â And that reason was her, seeing as human tastebuds couldnât take the heat as easily as a zombieâs. At her comment about him not always liking how she pushed his buttons, Blaine gave her a curious glance that held a hint of nervousness. But, on the other hand, it would probably be something heâd deserve, if he was honest.
Not entirely sure how to respond to her confession that he was growing on her, Blaine gave a sincere smile. âLike a handsome fungus. I can see it,â he said with a quiet laugh. âYeah, I think I can say the same about you.â Now that she mentioned it, it felt right to say it back. Didnât even have to take a moment to contemplate it. Well, they had seen each other every single day for a couple of weeks, so it was only natural, he supposed.
Every now and then, Blaine would contemplate if the extra cost of the turbo boost option had been worth it, but seeing Shayâs expression, hearing the noise she made as the car lurched forward, well, it answered that question once and for all. âGood stuff, isnât it?â he asked with a big grin, eyes darting between her and the road, trying to enjoy her reaction while also focusing on driving. By the time it wore off, the restaurant could be seen just around the corner on the gps map on the console. âAnd we can do it again on the way home. Can even take the back roads where no one can see us...â Although he hadnât started out meaning for his words to sound suggestive, after realizing, he just went with it, voice turning velvety and giving her a playful smirk. â...Do it a few times in a row. Might even give the cops a nice show. That is, if youâre up for it?â
