I really adore working in a coffee shop because not only has my life changed exponentially because of it but also i'm getting to watch other people's lives change and advance all while just being a background character. One of my favorite regulars, a sweet young lady who works at the local library, revealed that she was pregnant today! And that is so thrilling to me because I've seen her almost every week for over a year, solo and with her husband, and now her life is moving to a chapter I can only imagine. Our mailman's wife beat cancer over the course of my time here. It's genuinely so magical and heartwarming to see these people develop and change. How beautiful life is.

i thought a lot today about the serenity of nature and my tendency to be frustrated at the things outside that make me uncomfortable, like bugs and heat. i often forget that there is beauty in the world that i miss for the safety of familiarity and comfort. but the little bees licking sweat off my skin and the dragonflies stopping their flights for a moment meant no harm, just needed something like i did. food and rest and a way along the path. maybe it isn't so bad.
