My favourite show of ALL time, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018) is really amazing and this is one of the things it does well - the characters are all designed to have diverse body types! My favourite character (one of the main trio) is a chubby gal who is INSANELY powerful, and her weight isn’t commented on ONCE. There’s another fat character who is also powerful and lovable, Spinerella, and her weight isn’t commented on at all either. Neither are the many diverse races, sexualities, and genders! It’s a kids show, so keep that in mind if you don’t find that sorta sparkly animated stuff entertaining, but the diversity is so refreshing. I’m so fucking sick of having the only powerful/important/lovable characters be the skinny, pretty, white ones, and i am even more sick of the characters who aren’t skinny and pretty and white being ridiculed/treated differently/commented on because of their differences, and She-Ra avoids all of this. Not only that, but the storyline is consistent, well-developed, mystical, and enjoyable as well, so it’s WAY worth watching for entertainment value. if you have netflix, consider watching it!! it’s wonderful

in this month, which is both pride and indigenous history month, please unpack ur “i wanna move to a farm w my wife uwu” shit and realize it holds an inherent expectation of access to land stolen from indigenous people. it’s irresponsible to move to a rural area to ““live off the land”” without giving serious thought to whose land it was before white settlers took it over and how you can work to undo that theft. becoming a white settler yourself ain’t it.

I love this so much. Too many times on Tumblr I've seen the "Single, Live for Myself and Nobody Else" woman and the "Domestic/Family Housewife" woman pitted against each other and trying to showcase how one lifestyle is better than the other. Showing how both sides are extremely similar in goals, but said goal taking a slightly different form for each individual is something I really enjoy.
