btw if anyone here has a few dollars to spare, it might be worth it to send some to asiyahcenter.org/donate- they're a muslim women's shelter whose currently raising funds for the Ahmed family, who're a family of 12 Gazan refugees who managed to make it to NYC around last year. they've been living in a single cramped, roach infested apartment for the better part of this past year, and one of their family members just recently had a baby. the center managed to find them a pretty decent house to live in, and are aiming to raise a year's worth of rent and utilities money (which would be about 5000 usd a month). along with the government's fuckery with visa's, they're unsure about their ability moving forward in order to secure jobs and just general peace of mind, so if you're in the US and have money to spare, just a few dollars would be incredibly helpful.
