Lovely Things

This sort of language is still preserved in some backpacking communities, as well. I can’t count the number of times I’ve said something like “yeah, just head bayward until you hit the giant sequoia, and it’s the building with the ionic columns” and been told that my directions are utterly insane

Yeah this is also the norm in rural areas where the internet service might be...spotty

Cats understand "naughty". In fact I think they're the only animal who understands it. Dogs know "good" and "bad" but not Naughty. Same with theft. Cats know what theft is. They know when they are thieving and you can see it on their faces. Squirrels are thieves but they don't know that. They know "take" and "have" but they don't comprehend what it is to steal. Nor do raccoons or coyotes or any species of rodent. They may participate in theft but they are ignorant of the weight of what they do, the full meaning of it. Cats know what crime is and they do it on purpose.

What I find intriguing about squirrels is they absolutely don't understand stealing but they DO understand being stolen from and this creates a lot of Squirrel Chaos

Squirrels know how to judge others for crimes, but not themselves. That's why when a squirrel stares at you for a long time you feel the weight of your evils in the world.
